I was thinking of trying to get a camera sponsorship from Sony, but how do i approach them? Yes i have web/insta to make exposure for them.

Anyone have done this before? any procedure? Where do i start?

u should think of, why Sony should sponsor you? are u famous among photography industry in Malaysia? wat benefits can you bring to Sony?

remember..companies will only consider sponsorship if its benefits them...

u can then call to sony malaysia..ask for marketing dept and get in touch with them..

if u have 1mil followers...they dnt care if you're at africa...they still sponsor u
im from sabah as well, get yourself some great shot 1st...travel around, expands what u have
thats how foreign vloggers gets their sponsorship(but they dnt ask for it, its given)
look at casey neistat...he dnt get sponsored too, he has to buy his own equipment

If you are asking this question, then it's highly unlikely you'll get any sponsorship.

There's only 2 way to go about it as of now, it's either your profile is exploding and the people at Sony is picking you up or if you personally know someone inside whom can recommend you in.

Get in touch first, raise some alarm with your best and the most liked shot. Most likely they won't sponsor for now, but they might keep an eye on you, and get in touch when the time is right.

To get such sponsorship, you would need the following

You need to have a name in an industry you are at and relates to the sponsorship you are targeting.

Create content relates to your industry and have a healthy stream of viewers and followers, regardless 500px, Flickr, Instagram or youtube.

Have a website showcasing your passion in the industry and the biggest bonus that will strike you sponsorship is to have yourself written articles, books, webinar or on-site seminar.

I was once a sponsored in my sports photography and is not easy to maintain the contract renewal. Just a simple mistake or scandal will have them withdraw everything and even a possible law suit.

whats your website? i manage to help few friends to get a 1 month loan from sony before hahaha 1 month should be enough to try it during travel.

Keep on hashtag Sony in all your posts to create visibility as a start. Some of the followers might ask your gears setup after seeing awesome pics and you tell them it's SONY lor haha. Who knows Sony might think that it's a good opportunity to sponsor you coz you help them promote their product with stunning images taken using their products.
