This may have been mentioned by others here before, but I happened to note this cheap and simple ''fat mod'' for the Boss DS-1 by changing just two resistors, that any of you can do yourself. http://www.muzique.com/news/fat-mod-for-the-boss-ds-1/ I haven't really seen this video which is about this modification. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P_dKwBNAho The above is commonly discussed in guitar effects forums such as DIY Stomp Boxes. The DS-1's circuit diagram, the later models using the M5223 IC, is attached. An analysis of the unmodified circuit, with the latest batch using the NJM2904 IC, is here. In this case, I think the writer made a typo. R5 is actually the same as R6 in the earlier model.
