Buying ipad air 2 from Apple Malaysia website, Warranty issue overseas

I am planning to buy an ipad for my mentor from Apple Malaysia website. Since he is going back to India after retirement, I was wondering if it is useful if I bought the 2 year warranty? Will there be any issues for him to claim the warranty even though I purchased it with my credit card? Should I get the 2 year warranty?

The warranty is only valid in Malaysia.

From my previous communication with an Apple Support staff, they mentioned that they have loosened their warranty terms and that iPhones and iPads are globally covered.
