One thing that I'm really curious about this card is, why is it so hard to apply via new/fresh application?

I mean, I've been following this thread for quite some time now and the rejection rate is pretty high comparing to other cards. Even my friends have had hard time getting this card not to mention my personal experience biggrin.gif

I can see that most are actually existing card holders with MBB but yet still rejected. Some even earn quite a lot and conventional card CL not very high yet rejected. The best part is, I believe some even never had any outstanding with any CC (clean record even after using CC for years) but still rejected.

I don't really care about this actually tbh but it's really interesting to have some insights I mean like is it because it's islamic CC or simply because MBB is just stringent for this card...
*
For my case, I never applied for this Ikhwan card.
But when I submitted my MBB Islamic hire purchase application with all supporting docs, the CC promoter called me and offered me the Ikhwan platinum.

But before this I had 2 hire purchase loans under MBB, 1 conventional and another Islamic, so maybe they just want to fill in the quota and offered me this card in the hope that I bite coz I never had an MBB cc before.
I accepted their offer because of the 8% Petronas fuel rebate during the weekend.
So every weekend, I'll get back about Rm8-9 when I refuel at Petronas and I don't bother to monitor the weekly petrol price anymore

Oh dear. Hopefully the 8% CB retains. Where did you get this from?
*
Oh no! Very sad case if it's true bye.gif
I've only refueling at Petronas during the weekend to take advantage of the 8% weekend cashback.
Easily safe RM30-40/month

Is it possible to apply for Ikhwan, when I already have another CC with Maybank?
*
Sure can.
Just whether they wanna approve or not is up to them.

8% Cashback at Petronas on weekends, is this like the best petrol cashback card? Or is it a better deal with 5% cashback and the reward cards of other petrol stations?
*
Affin-BHP MC offers 10% CB during the weekend, and 2% CB on weekdays, capped at RM50/month.
But the processing time really puke.gif mad.gif

Not everybody is BHP fans.
And also BHP coverage is not as wide as Petronas/Shell/Petron.
*
Indeed.
The only advantage I've seen BHP over the others is the widely available Euro5 in BHP stations in KV.
With me staying in Taman Melawati, I have to travel to Petronas Taman Melati to pump Euro5, but with BHP there are 2 stations in Melawati with Euro5.

As my CX-5 is using Euro5, I still apply for the Affin-BHP although I already have MBB Ikhwan Petronas

i see, can suggest which card is better for petrol cashback? been comparing but seems this ikhwan still better
*
If solely for petrol cashback, Affin-BHP is better as they give 10% CB during weekend and 2% on weekdays, compared to Ikhwan Visa Petronas which gives 8% and 1% CB respectively.
Both are capped to RM50/month

I just received maybank Ikhwan Petronas card, may I know the cash rebate is based on statement or month end?
*
Calendar month.
You can check the previous month cash rebate on the beginning of the following month if you have M2U

Hi...just asking...averange my petrol cost in a week for car and motorcycle around RM50-100. So, if i apply this credit card just for dedicated for petronas, is it a good choice?
*
It's a good choice if you can refuel at Petronas during the weekend.
My average fuel spending is about +/- RM100/week and as I only refuel during the weekend, on average every month I get about Rm32-40 CB.
The max CB is Rm50/month.

The other better option is Affin BHP which offers 10% and 2% CB during the weekend and weekdays, but Affin processing really puke.gif

Then you should pump petrol this Friday using Ikhwan MasterCard (5% rebate), if Petrol price is up by more than 6 Sen/litre this weekend (likely for this week)! smile.gif
*
Good suggestion indeed!
If price of petrol is going to increase, can pump petrol on Friday using Ikhwan MC.
But if the price of petrol is going to decrease, wait until the weekend and pay using Ikhwan Visa Petronas to get 8% CB

Any tips for me to reapplied this card. Last year already apply but got rejected. my annual income around 48K.
*
I was offered the Visa Ikhwan Petronas last year when my hire-purchase loan was approved by Maybank Islamic even though I never applied for any MBB CC.
Maybe because previously I had 3 hire-purchase loans with MBB also?

Might helps also if your salary is credited to MBB account

Guys just got a call maybank offered me this card.

I havent use any cc before as I rely on debit. They said i dont have to submit any documents. They will send over the card if I say yes.

Is this legit?
*
As the above poster's query, did you take up any hire purchase loan from Maybank Islamic recently?
If yes, it is legit.

I got my MBB Ikhwan Islamic Visa after I accepted their hire purchase in early 2018

I don’t really use this card. Thinking if I should be cancelling it
*
As the previous poster's reply, if your total CB per year is less than the RM25 SST, just cancel it

hye, cant decide which one should i get for my first CC.
mb 2cards, ikhwan mc or ikhwan petronas.
petrol spend about rm50-rm200 monthly(petron&petronas)
groceries about rm2++ at mydin
some bills and shopping.

almost want to apply mb 2 cards, then i need to pay SST for 2 card which is rm50=rm20k points. im not sure i can reach 20k points each year.
*
Ikhwan Petronas is more beneficial to those that only refuel at Petronas during the weekend (like myself) as every weekend I tend to refuel about Rm100 or so and every month I can get CB of Rm30-40 (CB is capped at RM50/mth)

Hello, ive a question because ive no idea how cc works (lol noob)

This is my first time and thinking about to apply a cc. I want to apply for maybank credit card to purchase house appliance on Sen Heng and they've this 0% installment.

1) Is it as simple as buying and pay according to how many years i agreed on and no extra or hidden charge except for the installment fee?

2) If its an annual free card, i dont have to pay anything and just pay whenever im using it. is it correct?

Thanks for answering. really appreciate it
*
As the above reply;
1) Some merchant might impose upfront processing fee. Pls confirm with them
2) Yes. Just be mindful of the RM25 SST per annum, on the card anniversary, payable to the Government. Some cards can redeem the bonus points accumulated to offset again this SST

How to easily terminate credit card?
My card amex ikhwan platinum under utilize ....
With SST implement..RM25 per year is a deal breaker
*
Call the helpline number at the back of your card
Just inform them you want to terminate your card
Will be easier if the card has no outstanding balance during your request
