The chances of a Swiftech or D5 pump exploding is probably minimal and at least until now, I've never read anything like this before. If you do a quick google, you can't find much stories about quality WC pumps but plenty of stories about all these 1 set WC kits

In a custom WC solution, the other parts (like radiator, CPU WB, etc) would never go bad and the leakage normally happens if you do not screw your barbs tight enough or tubings are not tightly fitted into barbs. Other than that, I don't see any reason things would fail

The difference is that with a custom set, it will not fail if you do it right but with kits like CoolIT, etc, it will still fail even if you followed the instructions 100%. The reason is because you have absolutely no control over what's inside and how it works, you just gamble and hope that the manufacturer ensured everything is packaged properly before being sold to us. If the worker missed out something in between, we won't know until we turn it on

Sometimes it can be disastrous like the poor guy above.
Thanks Martin, you have a good point there and yes, my Swiftech pump is still rock solid stable even it's close to 3 years old

Although it's expensive but I'm happy with it since it's reliable, totally silent and had the performance.
i have a CM Aquagate S1... voided the warranty due to tempering, changing tubes and fluid
now im running that WC kit beside the computer for 1 week and if it doesnt leak, then only i will install it to my comp
all WC kits has the possibility of leaking and damage other component... but the chances of it leaking varies according to the products you get
so if you got your self a new custom or all in 1 WC...
test it off your rig first before installing it into your rig
if you must install it into your rig right away (as for most custom wc) run your WC without powering up your whole system. As for me i will run the pump for a minimum of 1 hour before powering up my whole rig.
