QUOTE(S4PH @ Feb 6 2017, 02:48 PM) QUOTE(g104 @ Feb 6 2017, 03:09 PM) Thanks for the replies. Actually If I buy either one of those cards I just want to run stock. Some people say when they watched jayz video they said he got very lucky he got the better variations of the card. I decide on a RX480 since many say that the card will last longer in terms of support (updates etc) and after a bit of reading the latest updates made the card now perform much better. |

QUOTE(g104 @ Feb 6 2017, 08:33 PM) I think my i7 3770 is still capable.QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Feb 7 2017, 11:21 AM) Jayz 480 GTR is definitely silicon lottery, i've seen 480 GTR barely overclock to 1400mhz and some get to 75c-80c at stock. If we refer to the current pricing, well the Sapphire Nitro is the cheapest. But it is one of the best build RX-480 alongside 480 Strix and maybe Nitro. MSI Gaming is no slouch either, so try to pick the cheapest between all these 4 cards. From Haswell Core-i3 is good enough for Polaris imo, for older gen you need i5 at least from my experience. Did you try reinstall the driver? Or use DDU. I saw RX 470 in 8 gb. Is it better to buy that or stick with the original plan by getting the rx480? I mostly play in 1080p. |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Feb 7 2017, 09:34 PM) I don't know how to answer this, 8GB is probably the better choice in the long run but when? I know the new RE is very heavy on texture but the impact is much smaller when you turn off shadow caching iirc. Guess I'll stick with the original plan on getting an RX480 8GB. Either Sapphire nitro or XFX GTR whichever ones have the best offer. If you want a tier higher overall performance the 4GB 480 is the better choice than 8GB 470 imo. I will just run it stock but will need to learn how to adjust the fan curve as I read many of these cards runs hot. |

I did a quick look between xfx rx480 GTR and Sapphire rx 480 nitro.
the XFX one has core clock of 1338 Mhz while Sapphire 1342 Mhz. Lets say if I purchase the Sapphire and underclock it to the same core clock as the XFX one will I be able to achieve the same cooling performance? |

QUOTE(John Chaser @ Mar 18 2022, 09:32 AM) Pleass don't. Just hold it out. Just maybe you'll be at the very least move up to a 1660 or 2060 if the prices keep falling. QUOTE(xxboxx @ Mar 18 2022, 10:32 AM) If not urgent, better wait till the drop in price is reflected in Malaysia market. Alright then, I guess I will hold it. My 950 can still play 1080p on old games. Hopefully prices will drop further. If can't wait, I see 2050 can get below 2k and 3060 around 2k John Chaser liked this post

Currently I am using Ryzen 2600X, Asus B450F, AOC C24G1 monitor and 16GB (8x8) C14 RAM. With this setup how bad is the bottleneck if I decide to get an RX6600XT? I only play 1080p

QUOTE(edmund_yung @ Sep 3 2023, 09:44 AM) Coming from a 2700X, I'd experienced CPU bottleneck in games like Warzone. Older Ubisoft titles such as Division 2 and Wildlands are fine. Well, most of the game that I played are those old ones (COH, unreal tournament, left for dead) and the latest game that I have is PUBG. So basically I am looking to upgrade my graphics card first then when the funds are available I will upgrade my CPU. I am thinking if I get the RX6600XT I should not have any problems playing with old games. I hope I am right on this one.You can determine the bottleneck yourself by monitoring the CPU/GPU usage, and decide whether or not you actually need that upgrade with the games you're actually playing. 5600 non-X will be a very affordable upgrade. |
