QUOTE(wolf1991 @ Nov 17 2020, 04:59 PM) Do you mind to share where you got such an info? I don't think it is correct. Radeon rx6000series is comparable to rtx 3000 series according to the available data Rx6800 better than rtx3070 around 10 to 20% but it have higher msrp Rx6800xt is comparable to rtx3080 while data show that might be slightly better for certain games Rx6900xt is a rival to rtx3090 which a lot cheaper prices. That's y nvidia planning to come out with rtx3080ti next year to fight rx6900xt Don't listen to rumour that much. Sometimes it's spread by nvidia fan boy without any supporting information. Anyway rdna 2 architecture looking good as they share the similar tech with ps5 and Xbox console. So a lot of game might be optimized for rdna 2. Anyway it's fine to wait for unofficial benchmark to confirm. Nvidia been number 1 of f gpu for so many years. They might come out with something to take back the number 1 seat. For example the upcoming rtx3060ti and rtx3080ti. Competition is good for consumer to get a better product at cheaper price. sadly nothing comes close to cuda interms of productivity, So amd still got a long way to get into the professional market even if they beat nvidia in gaming (that's why 3090 price is so cut throat)

QUOTE(wolf1991 @ Nov 17 2020, 06:21 PM) Probably have to look at the benchmark to see how they perform. No idea of productivity wise as it is not my interest but good that nvidia got a competition. Monopolized market is bad for consumer. Like Intel cases. Been the top for so long. Finally they was taken over and probably will come out some counter measure which beneficial to consumer. It's kind of nice to see nvidia reacting to radeon 6000 series with rtx3060ti and 3080ti. Just those buying it earlier at much higher price feel bad. 999USD for 3080TI is still pretty steep.. but the 20GB vram if true will be snatched up by those doing deep learning...Especially if it has nvlink then even better, but i dont think nvidia will kill the 3090 so definitely only 3090 will have the nvlink. As for gaming, I dont think 20GB vram is that vital... so the early 3080 adopters is not really losing out. Too bad AMD even with 16GB will not be a viable option for people in this market. Here nvidia still holds the monopoly. Gamers only see 10% performance increase from 3080 in games... but for people who are doing AI, the 20GB vram and the option to increase the vram by multiple 3090 is why nvidia can still slap such a high price tag on 3090.

QUOTE(terradrive @ Nov 19 2020, 12:15 AM) Thanks, seems like the GPU hardware itself is a beast in productivity but opencl support is kinda lacking OpenCL has long been abandoned by most except apple lel... and nah, for rendering, ATI has long been unusable with very crappy output... especially for videos.. Heck even cuda's output quality kinda sucks but at least usable. Cant beat X264 with CPU for the highest quality which is ideal for the final render before publishing despite taking way longer. Then when it comes to tensor flow... dont have to say anything I didnt really touch 3D software but if im not wrong most industry standard softwares all uses cuda more efficiently except if youre using apple.

QUOTE(zorbyss. @ Feb 12 2021, 09:40 AM) For the CPU, unfortunately I need more cores for my daily routine (both work and personal tasks). I'm basically running everything at 1 single rig. Multiple browsers (and tabs) and huge excel files for work. Decrypting work stuff. Plex server. Gaming etc. My 6600k is getting exhausted at this point. That's why I'm very keen on the 5900x with its 12C/24T but I guess I can wait, already on the waiting list from Techview but let's see. I'm kinda debating if I should go for 5950x instead but that's extra RM1K there. And rocket lake looks very very very compelling. I kinda wonder when will it launch though. And the rx580 though. Dafuq are these ppl thinking. It takes 4-5 months to get your money if you're mining, reasonable enough ONLY IF the price is stable. For gaming... C'mon... Edit : OK. Just read about Rocket lake again.. tops out at 8 cores and 14nm. That's sad. if it’s cores you want, just get a 3900x. The gap is not big. Please avoid buying rocket lake, so there will be stock for me to buy

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Dec 13 2022, 01:29 PM) Lmao. Less than 20% RT compare to 4080 for RM 1K less. Good enough. Many play games w/o RT anyway. Linux out of the box performance is great too. Amd knew they cannot compete in performance that's why they came up with the much lower msrp as nvidia released their 4000 series way earlier. Sadly for most of us, 7900XTX is not competitive enough to trigger nvidia to drop prices

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Dec 13 2022, 03:45 PM) Lol. So you can buy Nvidia instead right? Of course. The only reason AMD exists to me is to cut nvidia and intel's prices
