Wanna know something depressing? Powercolor RX 470 4GB Red Dragon was sold for RM899 before mining craze near the end of 2016 doh.gif

Vega is a hot card, a blower cooler is better to keep your case temps down.
*
I have Vega 64, yeah that thing could boil a kettle or egg when stressing, the gpu shroud is really hot to touch.
Gonna mod an Aio cooler for it.

Is it worth it tho? I read current state for CFX/SLI support is not good. Better go for a more powerful single card.
*
Dual gpu is not really worth it, unless you're dead sure the game you gonna play support it fully.
Also with the invention of Vulkan you probably don't need the secondary gpu anymore.
If the game are highly optimised as Doom 2016 or, Wolfenstein the colossus, it will run silky smooth above 1440p.

I force the fan to run at 2800rpm when gaming. Temps usually never exceed 72C. My 56 is flashed with 64 VBIOS with HBM clocked at 1GHz with 56 powerplay table. Voltage locked at 950mV or 1V. Core clock averaging around 1500-1550MHz.

If you want to run AIO make sure the VRM is cooled too.
*
I've been running it for a years without any mods, my poor Sammy 960 evo is just right below it everyday cooking lol sweat.gif
I have a spare Fractal Design Celsius 360 unused, currently still on dilemma on whether going ekwb/swiftech or just mod a cooler...
By the time I build one Navi 7nm probably out already

I noob at watercooling lol, scare if mix up metal > corrison > leakage > boom!
stick with the reputable wc part first.

Tri-fans card fan speed will getting noisy too(speed increased) once the heats in the case already built up.

Unless you are using the monster size full tower case like obsidian 1000.
FYI, I m using old corsair's carbide 500 case only.
*
I rather have better custom cooler, the stock heatsink really sucks, AMD need to improve their stock cooler.
For custom heatsink that dumps hot air inside case, a side panel exhaust will slove the problen.
2x 120mm fan would suffice.

Sacrifice cooling for bling isn't my thing sweat.gif
My new case does not even has transparent side panel lol

Stock cooler is fine, the only thing that sucks is how AMD binned their GPU. It used way too much voltage, a simple undervolting to make the cooler cope with the heat produced. Another problem is AMD set the blower fan too low; idle 400RPM (barely any airflow) and at load only 2400RPM (but it rarely reach this). It needs around 2500RPM to expel heat efficiently under load

Problem with modern case it full of tempered glass side panel, no place for side panel fan. Its all about the bling and not cooling puke.gif
*
Luckily afterburner can set the custom fan curve, down side is now it's too noisy lol,
A bigger and well build cooler most likely will solve the issue.
They still using the same old design even the memory chips is embedded within gpu.

Should have bought the lc version but it wasn't available at the time when it came out.

You kidding right? HBM was meant to be as close to the GPU as possible to save space and to save power, that is the reason why AMD is betting on using HBM in the first place. If they use conventional GDDR memory it will consume more power and hotter too.
*
I know, I mean since the PCB already no more memory chips they should be able to design a better cooler for it, but AMD still using the same old design.

I'm actually looking for tthis https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-radeon-vega + https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-kit-l240-1
itt would save me the hassle to find the correct fitting and tubes lol
just replace the cpu block wth gpu block, run a leak test 24h and call it a day sweat.gif

hahahaaha end of the day u still wanna watercool, stock cooler is just rubbish

I would have went with lc or custom cooler, but the time it hit the shelve the store only have stock cooler version.
I've dismantled the cooler and its the same design that been using for few generration (from HD4890 era LOL)
Very simple vapor chamber, no heatpipe.

DBSR, Primitive Shader, Rapid Packed Math, NGG Fastpath. All these need support from game dev to be enable according to them. One of their employee tweeted Primitive Shader is gonna be on driver level but then they scrap that and let game dev do it instead.

If Nvidia somehow able to put their new Mesh Shader(equivalent to Vega's Primitive Shader) on driver level in the future like they did with DX 11 command list-like(optimized multi-threaded) and tiled base rasterization(similar to DBSR), i say rest in peace Radeon driver team.  We can see how much faster Vega and Turing in Doom which utilize Primitive/Mesh shader compare to their older sibling.
*
It has to be useful for everyone, for example the TressFX from Tomb Raider reboot, it's compute based, it works with virtually every gpu,'
Also the Vulkan Renderer on Doom, those will be selling point for a game.

And because those features are Vega specific, from the developer point of view it would be waste of time,
unless the entire RX 5xx series use Vega architecture, or AMD own the majority of market share sweat.gif , that would entice the RX 500 user to buy the game that use Vega specific optimizations.

Those DRAM/NAND makers need some hefty fines for price fixing, they're just hampering the PC industry and progress.

Nvidia open sourced PhysX https://github.com/NVIDIAGameWorks/PhysX-3.4
GPU accelerated Physic might be possible with Radeon, and any other GPU.

Does content creator actually need that much VRAM?
*
if the program does not use the gpu frame buffer, nope,
vram mostly utilized by game, larger texture/AA require more vram, also DXVA accelerated 4K h265 does use 4GB of vram, you can at least play 3 4K of h265 video without choking the system to death, with Radeon VII tongue.gif

I'm waiting Vega 56 price to drop too. My psu is silver 650W so not recommended to get Vega 64. Hahaha.

I'm using Platinum 650W with 1300x + Vega 64, it might work for yo, just temporary downvolting before you get a better PSU.

Woah. Does 1300x bottleneck vega 64 in gaming?
*
Surely it is, for some recent title like SottR, most of the time the CPU went 100% lol,
That's all i could recall.

I have sapphire RX 580 and the fan wont stop making noise after I'm finished playing some games. I enabled Zero RPM and its still spinning even when the temp is already down.
I had to load another profile and then reset for the fan to actually stop spinning.

How do I fix this? I didn't overclock or anything and it only happen to some games sweat.gif
*
Make sure you're just using one software to control the fan, 2 will mess up the gpu or even cause system crash.
