Almost 2x increase in performance i guess? You can try find a cheap i7 then you're really good though 4th gen i5 is enough since you're playing older games.

After seeing all the review in youtube. I am poisoned to get RX5700. This is my current gaming PC spec:
I5-4670k oc @4Ghz
24GB RAM
GPU: Sapphire Nitro RX580 8GB
SSD: 512GB+512GB (sata)
PSU: Cooler Master 700W

What u guys think?
I don't play online game on PC, only single player game (mostly RPG and action game)

If you are using 1080p 60hz monitor , I think you should change cpu, look at techdeals channel , he shows all the improvement over Intel CPU up to current gen.

good idea

i always advice the same 2 my other buddy shooting big loads seeing new iphones every year

eating maggi mee daily after splurging on graphics card is no longer relevant in pre-2020 era laugh.gif laugh.gif

i confess i did b4 with my shiny 8800GTS the 640mb edition more than 1 decade ago

i did try 2 go meal less 4 topping up 8800GTX the 768mb edition but not worth it in the end

good times pre-2010 mang rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

have done a little bit of research on that

unless you're OCing the GPU kau-kau, and it's already/near out of warranty, IMO it's not worth it

you'll need a bracket like NZXT Kraken G12, an existing/new AIO
and you'll need to strip off the existing GPU cool component, which gonna void the warranty

while the GPU core will get better cooling from the AIO, but a lot of these setup neglected the ram cooling, which is done by a single fan only, a lot of higher end cards will experience RAM overheating especially those with GDDR6
and you'll need additional DIY heat sink on those RAM in order to cool them down properly.

Btw, a noob question on GPU power source

my new card has 2 connector, 6 pins & 8 pins

and from my PSU (Super flower 600w) I have 2 PCI-E power cables
one with 2 x 2+6 pins connector (the other connector is a Y split from the main one)
the other cable is just with one 6+2 pins connector

Currently I'm plugging on both cables from PSU, leaving one splitted 6+2 connector dangling, and my GPU seems to run just fine

question is, can I just use the single cable with 2 connectors (splitted) to power up the GPU?

yes, you can just use the Y-cable.

If you are worried you can just touch the Y cable after a long gaming session and unless its very hot just keep using it that way should you prefer having 1 less cable visible in your casing.

ok, some will call me stupid and wasting money for getting a reference 5700 XT

but IMO, after 2 nights of testing it with the latest drivers, I'm not complaining.

I was building my first proper gaming rig after a few decades, so my brain was pretty outdated in terms of current technology advancements.

But after a few reads, decided to go for the red camp, all these while I was the blue camp, no harm to try, right?

Anyway, was locking on a 2nd hand RX570 as my GPU, as I won't be playing the latest games anyway, mostly are just oldies, but then the seller FFK me big time, and bcos of that my rig built was delayed for weeks, and I was really pissed about it, and my advice to you, don't go browse for expensive stuffs when you're pissed and wasn't thinking rationally, then there I bought myself a 5700 XT reference card.

A week after, it arrives, and buyer remorse started to kick in after reading a lot of bad reviews about the reference card, it's hot & noisy & unstable, as most claimed.

But after trying it in my rig?
It's buttery smooth, no hang, no crash, no weird artifacts, no weird color & so... rock solid stable.
Trying a few games, playing Apex Legend in fullHD max, 2k & 4K, all no issues at all
Only noticed the hotspot temp was at max of 99C when playing at 4K, and the fan was a bit louder, but still fall within acceptable range, it's still a lot quieter than my PS4Pro. Playing it in 1080 is whisper quiet.

gonna try a few more games later, Metro Exodus and Destiny 2 are next

After watching Tech deals channel I have decided to upgrade my GPU only. Upgrading CPU+mobo+ram cost just can't justify the performance gain.

Would you guys recommend Asrock 5700 XT challenger? Not that many review on the card but most of them end with it is a solid choice right after Pulse.

saw it before my card arrives, that's one of the video that's worried me

but I guess it's the bug in the early drivers

Am using the latest drivers now, never encountered any of the shutdowns, hangs, or bugs encountered by them.
