Its good if there is unused CPU while gaming so background task is uninterrupted. If you mean CPU scheduler that distribute the load to proper cores, is up to the operating system to distribute it and not games, that's why Linux have superior CPU performance with HT/SMT CPU compared to Windows.
I'm still buying Vega despite the price, a lot of people did. Because Freesync, and its the best AMD have right now, the control panel looks better and offers more control than nvidia pathetic and slow control panel. AMD don't locked down the card as much as nvidia did (locking the VBIOS, finicky frequency and voltage table) so I can play with powerplay table and tune the card to my liking. If you tune Vega right it will performs great; low temps and higher performance.
Frametime fluctuates/dip when you max out one core, thats bad for sure. Yeah window is not quite great in that regards, that's why i really like Nvidia's approach of intercepting and balancing the load on driver side instead of relying on windows. It increase overall CPU load but not that significant in most games and the result shows.
NVCP is garbage by today standard, that true. I tried my best not to open that PoS.
AMD already start locking VBIOS modding with Vega anyway, they probably will keep doing that for upcoming GPUs. What you mean by finicky frequency?
That's a thing, majority of consumer if not all want their shiny new purchase to work great out of the box unlike you?. If i'm just a typical consumer i probably return or sell my old 7950 when it start artifacting out of the box.
Yeah Freesync is great, but some lower end Freesync monitor is not great.
I mean do you really skip this and purchase a 2nd hand Vega56 for 1.5k instead?
