Bought SAPPHIRE RX580 4G D5 NITRO+ last friday...now need to invest for new psu, current psu 500watt is 8year old and dont have 8pin

I realize this Sapphire rx580 need 6+8 pin connector...and I asked in Sapphire FB, they said 6pin is optional. Can work with 8pin only but better plug both for overclock.

AMD Ryzen processor also got price cut...Ryzen 2600 price around RM650

If only good DDR4 doesn't cost a kidney, i probably upgrade to 2600 or 2700.

I suggest undervolting.
Lots of voltage overhead.

Those DRAM/NAND makers need some hefty fines for price fixing, they're just hampering the PC industry and progress.

the thing is, i've checked all the 3200 cl16 rams. they're all running at 1.35v might as well overclock it myself.
i don't think paying extra rm60-70 per stick is worth it.

get this and overclock for cheapest. i bought this, and will probably buy it again if i'm building today. oc it myself.

the bottom most link is rated 3200 cl16.

mine can reach 3200. but i left it at 2866 because wanna save a watt of electricity at 1.2V.

Yeah. Running ryzen 1600x. Seems like the sweet spot is 3200mhz for ryzen

Tomhardware Dutch sibling measured undervolted RX590 power consumption and the card eat 20%-30% less power around 1.4ghz-1.55ghz clock speed.
Of course this is just one sample size so your mileage may vary.

You can even undervolt at 1.6ghz.

Yes but power drop is minimal i guess. IINM 1v is the target for most silicon.
Undervolting is similar to overclocking, different chip behave differently. I remember my old 290x could hit 1.1ghz even with -75mV.

just eyeballing the curve, i'm not gonna measure the slope, the rx590 peak efficiency is between 1450 to 1500MHz when undervolted.

and the gigabutt 580 peak efficiency at 1300. it is probably not the best asic quality.
if i have to guess, around 65% asic.

Reading the article you linked you are right.
Peak efficiency for the 590 is 1500Mhz with 30% gain (vs. stock) and 1300Mhz for the 580 with ~17%.
