currently me using mohawk 7 band preamp..no bad..bought it rm320+ but normaly forumer here will rcm u go for crossover straight away. personally perfer preamp,coz able to set it anytime i wan.
as long as u dont use those caliber or cap ayam 4 or 5 band preamp can already, u able to get gud sound even though u not go for crossover. u will notice the different.

5 band for mid,hi,mid bass,bass,sub fre. 7 band - 2 for tweeter,3 for mid,2 for bass,sub fre. beter SQ more flexible
