looking for a good pre-amp with controls for subwoofer frequency level, possibly up to 250Hz. The one i have now only have the option of 43 or 60

what brands should i look for and also what is the market price for it? where can i get it in KL/PJ? thanks in advanced

currently me using mohawk 7 band preamp..no bad..bought it rm320+
but normaly forumer here will rcm u go for crossover straight away. personally perfer preamp,coz able to set it anytime i wan.

as long as u dont use those caliber or cap ayam 4 or 5 band preamp can already, u able to get gud sound even though u not go for crossover. u will notice the different.

why would u wanna cut ur subwoofer at 250Hz?
it's too high

anything under 100Hz will be alright

i only have mids + hi's in the cabin.. i feel that some bass is lacking especially in the higher freqs. Previously before installing the pre amp and using my amp to control, able to get better sound for bass.. but now, at 60Hz cutoff already so i think some frequencies not playing at all..

i;m gonna get a pre amp too... wat's the differences between 7 band/ 5 band?? i know they have more buttons to tune.. tat's all rite?? will gettin a cheap preamp influence the sound quality ??

yes, definitely..

better pre-amp will definitely give u better SQ and more adjustment options.

go get an active crossover instead of pre-amp
better flexibility

5 band for mid,hi,mid bass,bass,sub fre.
7 band - 2 for tweeter,3 for mid,2 for bass,sub fre.
beter SQ more flexible

What mean cut subwoofer at 250hz or 100hz? What for to doing this? What is a normal cut for SQ?

fyi, now i';m running without preamp.. by installing lousy pre amp (for example) will my sound quality be worst then running without preamp?? thanks

pre-amp enables u to have more control over the sound thats coming out..eg, bass, mid-bass, mid, hi etc.. so u can adjust each level.. using ur HU to control generally only allow u to control bass mid and hi..(except maybe for some higher end models?)

and yes, using a lousy pre amp will screw up ur sound..thats exactly what happened to me.. my sound was better without the preamp simply because now my sub keeps cutting of at 60Hz! (which is okay if u like to listen to techno, rnb etc, but i'm more of a rock/alternative listner so generally the bass freq dun go dat low)..

the result? listening to songs of this genre sometimes i experience a lack of bass or no bass at all (which did not happen prior to installing the pre amp) .. but i must admit that the general clarity of the music is better because i could adjust the mids and hi's to my liking..

thats y i'm looking to swap out this preamp with another one which could control the sub freq range higher than 60Hz.. i saw some in the market (some cap ayam brand below RM200) that could go up to 250Hz.. but i wanna put a good one.. any recommendations??

if you are really lookiong for a good realiable pre-amp... go for audiocontrol... model you can see la which one more suitable for you... and as a SQ player... i would suggest you to take one tht comes with line driver...

last time i tried before caliber four band preamp,stellar five band preamp, and mohawk crossover..endup now i using 7 band preamp..the Q not much different with mohawk crossover..but alot alot different if compare wif caliber preamp..this is for sure..u ned a gud player as well..
there got (from right) 2 for for tweeter,3 for mid,2 for bass , 2 for sub(sub volume + sub freq) , one for volume + balance..
where i install it...in kedah la wei...haha anyway i asked before in others shop in png, it cost me rm380..i not sure about KL..

wow .. these audiocontrol products are sweet..any idea which installers carry this brand around here??

i think later will have someone come in and say preamp=anything installed before amplifier....lolz....

i am not sure which installer has them there... but i am sure most reputable installers has them... they are distributed by ProICE if i am not mistaken...
