Powerslide = Tyres lose traction mostly, after the apex of a corner. Or during the exit of the corner.
Drifting = Most of the time the car is already sideway before the corner. |

Drifting, as per Wikipedia.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drifting_(motorsport)
QUOTE Drifting refers either to a driving technique, or to a sport based on the technique; this article deals primarily with the sport. When the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle, and the front wheels are pointed in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right), and the driver is controlling this, the car is drifting. QUOTE Power oversteer or Powerslide - This drift is performed when entering a corner at full throttle to produce heavy oversteer through the turn. The excess power causes the drive wheels to lose traction in a RWD or AWD car. This is the most typical drifting technique for all-wheel drive cars. Powerslide = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerslide QUOTE Power oversteer or handbrake turn. See also drifting (motorsport). QUOTE The act of deliberately sending a car sideways through a series of corners is actually a popular form of motorsport that originated in Japan known as drifting. So as a conclusion, drifting = a kind of motorsport or going sideways intentionally.. powerslide = a kind of technique getting the car going sideways.. hmm...this debate again...i suppose sliding is just a short "drift" if you will...but hold that powerslide all the way around the corner and you get drift!!

if u realise, most of the techniques require powersliding to complete a drift.
used to lose traction so that u could get the right angle for corner exits. drifting is about controlling steering and throttle |

haihs.. its the same la.. its basically the same. Just that in drifting, you wanna make the powerslide goes/last longer hence, drift.
QUOTE(tester1979 @ Feb 6 2007, 10:16 AM) i second this..... powerslide is one of the 6 basic technique? Its not. That is powerover. You go around the corner exit and while exiting the corner, you slam on the throttle. That is powerover.it seems that from the drift king vcd from japan, drifting can be classified in about 6 techniques and powerslide is one of it. |

Powerslide = The front most part to start Drifting. Basically to make the car slide into sideways.
Drifting = Car sliding sideways and still under driver's control after the driver did the Powerslide. |
