Are you referring to Cash Back Gold card? According to SC website , "cash back is calculate based on all transaction EXCEPT petrol and insurance" .
If you spend for petrol with your cash back gold card , it is not calculate as any spending for this card.  So you won't get any cash back if you calculate together with your petrol spending and others to achive RM 500 of spending to get 2% cash back.

Any transaction will do accumulate for cash back if spending above RM500 except petrol and insurance only .

yes, for SC Cash Back Gold.. but your statement is not entirely true.. Yes, CB is awarded on transactions that are not petrol and insurance, but it doesn't mean those transactions are not considered for minimum spend requirements..

for most of the time that I've used SC CB Gold, I've charged close to RM 500 monthly of insurance charges to this card.. this ensured that I'll meet the minimum spend, albeit no cash back on these transactions.. spending the remaining 1k on non petrol/insurance allowed me to get the cap of RM 50 monthly.. or RM 25, if i spend 300..

I guess the issue now here is that for SC Cash Back Gold, insurance payments are considered retail transactions but petrol transactions are not. Their website didn't specify this. this is the first time I've encountered this because I just recently used the card for petrol transactions (to max out the Samsung Pay MasterCard promo)

Quoting the T&C on the product page:
QUOTE
Terms and conditions
1. Subject to meeting spend requirements. Cashback is calculated based on all transactions except insurance and transactions made at petrol station/kiosk
2. Annual spend of Principal and Supplementary Card will be calculated separately and no combination of spend shall be allowed
Standard Chartered Cashback Gold MastercardĀ® Credit Card Terms and Conditions
While the TnCs linked do state that petrol transactions are not considered retail transactions, the TnCs are for a card that provides 360 Rewards Points, not Cash Back.

I can't find a direct link to the TnCs for the Gold Cash Back card, but a quick search on google returned this

And if you were to read the second TnCs, it is relevant to the Cash Back card & promo, and there's no mention of petrol transactions being excluded as retail transactions.

I also confused with their cashback mechanism rclxub.gif If want to maximise cashback for RM50, how much actually need to spend? RM1500 or RM1000 if no petrol and insurance transactions perform at all.

To maximize, spend rm1500. Then you'll get 50. 500 can be insurance (proven). I'm fighting with CS to see if that 500 van be petrol or not.

Spending rm1000 will net you rm 25 only.

Just to provide an update on my missing CB for my Cash Back Gold Mastercard. SC has manually credited my missing CB, so this means that petrol transactions are considered as part of the minimum spend requirements..

But they didn't mention whether this will be fixed permanently or not.. i.e. will petrol transactions be automatically considered as part of the minimum spend, or will we need to call up to claim the missing CB, or will they updated their TnCs to exclude petrol transactions as retail transactions.. I also didn't bother to ask, because I will not use this card much after this..

Did I miss something? I thought e-wallet is still eligible for the cash back under LFC card. šŸ¤”
