Hi all sifus and advisors, I currently want to change my car and want to go for either asx 2nd hand or hrv 2nd hand.

I have check, both have roughly similar price with asx 2014 model being abit cheaper than 2015 hrv. My budget is ard 85k.

My criteria is a less hassle SUV with not much MAJOR problem. The car I own now have too much of those problem and so little service center which is a pain in the ass.

Please give me some insight before I make any decision. Info such as maintenance cost, FC, issues, etc are all very welcome.

Thanks again.

Hi, sorry for the confusion.. both are 2nd hand. Being asx is year 2014-2015 and hrv yr 2015. Due to the fact my budget is ard 85k. So I'm looking at these 2 models. I wont be considering Korean and other brand. Just Japanese car.

Which only left with this 2 choices.

hi alvin,

I have tested ASX before purchasing HR-V in early 2015. My main reasons for not choosing ASX:
1. The boot size is smaller for ASX.
2. The dashboard in ASX looks outdated compared to HR-V.
3. Better DRL and LED headlight for HR-V V spec.
4. HR-V have better resale value. Important for me since I normally change car every 5 years.

Advantages ASX over HR-V:
1. 2L vs 1.8L.
2. Bigger lower portion of back seat even though ASX back seat is not really comfortable. It is difficult to sleep at the back HR-V due to smaller back seat.
3. Much less queue in service center.

Just my 2 cents.

I prefer hrv as well. However as a buyer, you hv to be aware that hrv has those plastic panel rattling issues. Common stuffs . Made in Melaka quality. Maintenance is cheaper than Mitsubishi for sure.

However given a choice, i will top up a little for a low spec cx-5 2.0L. more powerful than asx and not too thirsty.
