i know Shakeys are all closed in Malaysia. i tasted many pizzas since but none of them tastes like theirs, especially from the 90s in sgwang plaza. their iced lemon tea and garlic breads are unbeatable. anybody knows if there are any Shakey-like pizzas left in Malaysia? recommendation?

My dorm just next to a shakeys. When the dorm's cafeteria serve something weird, I will go to eat at shakeys instead

Let me share two magic words....Skippys Pizza.

Google and order. Oh..if you're malay then don't bother. This joint is all about the pork. And the chilli and garlic that comes with it is a killer.

Used to go to the Shakey's at Jusco Taman Maluri since sekolah rendah lagi.
Loved their pizzas and refillable soup.

Back during highschool days we've always celebrate birthday parties at Shakey's. Kinda miss it now.

I can only think they gulung tikar due to mismanagement, not because their products not good or can't sell.
The most memorable thing i love about shakey's is their friend chicken. Good pizza, good fried chicken is like best of both world that they had.
You can't really get it in most pizza franchise right now.

I really love Shakey's. Only second to Domino's, too bad they closed down. And it's crust and taste is way better than shitty Pizza Hut's.

franchise holder switched to Dominos Pizza. When Shakeys Pizza closed, Dominos Pizza began in Malaysia

Only when a business disappear, people will miss it. But when it's still operating, lots of complaints can be heard.

When i work there last time, the owner bought over dominos pizza

Their delivery system was far better than dominos

All dominos pizza dough was pre-made by supplier

So taste was more consistent

Pizza hut dough quality depend on the worker's skill

PH dough now all pre-made already.send by suppliers just like their garlic breads. they no longer made it at the store like last time.

I left to do Shakey’s Pizza business in 1997 after selling my interests in KFC. Shakey’s used to be a subsidiary of KFC and Shakey’s Pizza could not grow with KFC because Pizza Hut International did not want a competitor to grow. At that point Shakey’s had 11 stores, but they were very old and run down. Today we have 31. We are very focused on growing in the local area, rather than expanding on a national basis. And at the moment my family – my son-in-law, my brother-in-law, my daughter, and my son – is very much involved, along with some ex-KFC staff. So all this while my passion has been in the fast-food business.

Hi, just an update...

Those who recommended Skippy's Pizza (near The Ship at Damansara Uptown), I'm sorry to say I did not like it. The Hawaiian pizza has a strong "meat" taste and I felt that it overbears the other ingredients. Though I think some people like that, especially those coming from Aus and NZ. Note: Skippy's is not halal.

Still, compared to Shakeys' version, I still prefer that one.
