franchise holder switched to Dominos Pizza. When Shakeys Pizza closed, Dominos Pizza began in Malaysia

Only when a business disappear, people will miss it. But when it's still operating, lots of complaints can be heard.

When i work there last time, the owner bought over dominos pizza

Their delivery system was far better than dominos

All dominos pizza dough was pre-made by supplier

So taste was more consistent

Pizza hut dough quality depend on the worker's skill

PH dough now all pre-made already.send by suppliers just like their garlic breads. they no longer made it at the store like last time.

the current franchise holder really... dunno what to say lah. many branch already closed. even the subang jaya one already closed. quality also down the drain already.

Shakey's kemudian diletakkan dibawah KFC Holdings bersama KFC dan Pizza Hut. Namun, disebabkan Pizza Hut tidak mahu ada keuntungan lebih dari pesaing terdekat, maka Shakey's sering dianaktirikan oleh KFC Holdings. Akhirnya, Shakey's dikeluarkan dari KFCH dan meneruskan perniagaan di atas paksi sendirinya. Pada tahun 2005, Shakey's bersetuju untuk bergabung bersama Domino's Pizza yang pada ketika itu tidaklah sekuat pada hari ini dan penggabungan ini menyaksikan beberapa buah cawangan Shakey's di'transform' menjadi Domino's manakala cawanngan yang masih lagi berada di bawah jenama Shakey's pula akan dijual. Penggabungan ini juga menyaksikan kekuatan Shakey's yang sebelum ini merupakan 'archrival' kepada Pizza Hut semakin merudum disebabkan pengaruh Domino's yang semakin kuat. Beberapa masalah yang dihadapi oleh Shakey's sehingga terdapat cawangan yang mengalami masalah dari segi mutu servis serta khidmat pelanggan menyebabkan Shakey's akhirnya jatuh dan pada tahun 2009, kesemua cawangan Shakey's di Malaysia telahpun gulung tikar.

I thought I remember domino came way back before shakeys pizza. The domino logo at sunway area is there since forever.

Shakey's is now owned by a group jointly owned a PH company and GIC, sovereign fund of SG.

I left to do Shakey’s Pizza business in 1997 after selling my interests in KFC. Shakey’s used to be a subsidiary of KFC and Shakey’s Pizza could not grow with KFC because Pizza Hut International did not want a competitor to grow. At that point Shakey’s had 11 stores, but they were very old and run down. Today we have 31. We are very focused on growing in the local area, rather than expanding on a national basis. And at the moment my family – my son-in-law, my brother-in-law, my daughter, and my son – is very much involved, along with some ex-KFC staff. So all this while my passion has been in the fast-food business.

Hi, just an update...

Those who recommended Skippy's Pizza (near The Ship at Damansara Uptown), I'm sorry to say I did not like it. The Hawaiian pizza has a strong "meat" taste and I felt that it overbears the other ingredients. Though I think some people like that, especially those coming from Aus and NZ. Note: Skippy's is not halal.

Still, compared to Shakeys' version, I still prefer that one.
