vanished, i just came back from the field exposure from labuan and there 2 of us. And i have to say this, ask a lot of question from everyone and your manager. Write down all the information given in a book. At the end of the week they will be a presentation with the manager and trust me they will assess you during you presentation. They will ask you what have you learn. What tools you know and what are the function. It's all basic stuff and that is why you have to be focus during the exposure and more important ask everything that you see. In my case i pass the exposure but unlucky for my friend he was rejected. I have to for med check up tomorrow. Sigh.

And don't forget to be nice to everyone. Be humble and respectful. The other thing is be initiative, don't wait for them to teach you stuff unless you see they are very busy, then get out of their way. Last but not least try to feel how working with SLB like because that is why you are sent to FEP in the first place. Hope that helps.

Completion

Well Services

MWD always side-by-side with LWD.

instead of asking benefits & salary as priority, do you really understand the process from E&P from the reservoir until you use to pump into the car the whole process? or turn into plastic for our daily use?
what your interest is really in?

I cant really tell you into specifics what each segment do exactly but if you are talking about entry level position, they are all the same in term of workload and salary. It is what do you want to be afterwards that will make a different in term of salary and workload. Try to discuss with the segment manager on your career progression to know more about what you can be for each segment.

I also cant say which one is the best as it is very subjective subject. Anyway, good luck and all the best.

Sumthing like that i think.

First year you will be a trainee whether u r FE or FS at Grade 07.
After 3 months they send u to their learning center for 1 -2 months i think.
within the first year u need to complete modules and pass the test onli then u can be promoted to Grade 08. If u fail during first year can kiss ur ass gudbye! Only when u reach Grade 08 (breakout) u will assume responsibility so during grade 07 u just need to study and help / assists the guys in base, sumthin like that.

Anyway... ill post more tomorrow after i sign the contract and briefed.

Money maker and back breaker

However, other segments are much more back breakers. Wireline is the toughest segment in terms of school and work as well.

for those who are asking about wireline;

Basically, schlumberger was established as wireline, so wireline is the most developed segment, it is the heart of schlumberger. wub.gif

It consists of two sub-segments namely, open hole and cased hole. Open hole does the evaluation of formation before the hole being cased while cased hole does the evaluation of casing or cement or production after the borehole being cased and cemented.

Wireline uses a combination of complex and highly advanced electronic and mechanical tools besides radioactive materials & explosives to deliver the services. An acquisition system at the surface is used to collect and process the data gathered downhole.

Field engineers in wireline can go to work at any time or any day. They might work continuously for 3 days with no sleep. The bounce for the engineers is taken as percentage of the total price of the job which can be 1 or 2% $$$$$$$. biggrin.gif

MA

Totally agree with you on the working hours i.e non-sleep. But that also applies to the petrophysicist in town looking at logging ops especially during MDT.

At the end they are sitting on chairs. Wireline engineers handle the field life which is much more difficult. A lot of stress, responsibility and Zero Tolerance.
