it's still ok.....compare what they do to my little sister....she made it until 2nd stage and qualify for 3rd stage and all of sudden they're don't grant my sister a 3rd stage interview by their HR. Reason: you really want to know what they say? We don't want to give it because we wish it to be that way. She cry all day long because this unfair discrimination.

In the end it end up she's working with KBR and gonna jump into Murphy. Feel glad she do well now. I can say 30% of my family working with this field. Upstream,downstream,power station,utilities. just name it.

just admit she just not good for SLB...heh..

Sometimes luck do play its part..but usually to get their attention is to be the 3 pointer grad. It's true, the grades is just the ticket to get interviews but the rest is up to your skills and personality. I'd been to many interviews in the past and the experience help me a lot with slb interviews.But tips from seniors did help too. If you think you don't have the self-confidence, practice..a lot. Get help from lecturer or friends. This is not rocket science you know  biggrin.gif .

One best thing here at SLB is that you will not stay at same position long. Meaning that your grade will go up and so do your salary. (thats RM 1000 increase).The challenges are, apart from doing your job which is terribly physical and mind burdening, you also have to take online tests and modules, reviews and go to schools. They will push you. 2 years is normally the limit. Fail and you can kiss your job good bye. So the interviews did not end when you get the job. The struggles will continue, at least when you get to certain grade which you will a the choice to stay. One thing I learned here is that you have to take your job seriously. Do not skip procedures and take short cuts. Disobey that, you can lose your job or worst, your life (or others).

It's quite difficult to say. Usually the applications went to database and stay there for a year if i am not mistaken. Sometimes it also depends on vacancy and request from managers. Open your eyes and ears for job expo or something similar, SLB just might be there. But from I heard, they say a degree holder with CGPA below 3.00 not need to apply (at those job expo). One more thing, most of the new engineer at my place usually are graduates from either UTM or UTP. These grads got more chances because SLB have recruitment program with their U's.

Dear SLB employees,

Please adhere to SLB's confidentiality agreement while posting online. If not I'll have to do an obs/int report and that could lead to action items that could inlcude a complete ban on Lowyat.net through SInet.

Tsk tsk.. still you're still just blowing hot air and have not contributed ANYTHING at all. =P

Cepat la Mr. Jhnzr, takkan kedekut ilmu kut?

But you can't possibly be an SLB Field Engineer as they don't usually hire people who speak/write horrendous english...('what you get are less than mine?'...seriously?) unless they really really lowered their standard. Glad I'm not really 'SLB' then... oh well.
*
well..see who's talking...yours is really bad..maybe you not realize it..hehe..well i don't have to reveal anything here..and for sure you are not FE..or at least you are not really 'Field' engineer..huhu...

How about job rotation? is it fix?
*
i'll tell you about the FE's (IM) rotation( well mostly FEs will be given field breaks and FSs will get rotation).. it depends on your assigned country, your position, your status, business needs..etc..etc...even some countries has few operation bases but there are a lot of differences in few things for each respective base, except the basic salary which will be the same...here are some cases:

1. fixed rotation---> some get 6 weeks x 3 weeks, some 6x2..depends
2. field break----> some get 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 field breaks in a year and plus with 1 month annual vacation. For each field break(+/- 2 weeks), they will pay you USD 400 and USD 2K ++(nice if you have family coz u will get more) for your annual vacation.
3. Annual vacation only---> 1 month annual vacation only.

For the case 2 n 3, you can divide and arrange your allotted vacation accordingly every year. if you didn't take any field break for whatever reason within this year for example, company will automatically burn it but on the other hand your annual vacation still can be carry forward to the next year if it is unused.

But as i said just now, it depends on your assigned country, your position, your status, business needs..etc..etc...even because of the economic turndown, it will ruin your field break or rotation.

Just my 2 cents. icon_idea.gif

PARIS, July 24, 2009 - Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB) today reported second-quarter revenue of $5.53 billion versus $6.00 billion in the first quarter of 2009, and $6.75 billion in the second quarter of 2008.

Income from continuing operations attributable to Schlumberger, excluding charges, was $820 million—a decrease of 13% sequentially and 42% year-on-year. Diluted earnings-per-share from continuing operations, excluding charges, was $0.68 versus $0.78 in the previous quarter, and $1.16 in the second quarter of 2008.

Income from continuing operations attributable to Schlumberger, including charges, was $613 million or $0.51 per share versus $0.78 in the previous quarter, and $1.16 in the second quarter of 2008.

Oilfield Services revenue of $4.96 billion was 9% lower sequentially and 18% lower year-on-year. Pretax segment operating income of $1.02 billion was 19% lower sequentially and 40% lower year-on-year.

Other Events:

• Schlumberger continued to reduce its global workforce as a result of the slowdown in oil and gas exploration and production spending and its effect on activity in the oilfield services sector. These actions resulted in Schlumberger recording charges of $0.07 per share during the second quarter of 2009, primarily related to severance. Furthermore, as a consequence of these workforce reductions, Schlumberger also recorded non-cash pension and other postretirement benefit curtailment charges of $0.10 per share during the quarter.

=============================================================================

So guys, those who are still waiting for SLB, use your backup plan or plan B or whatever it is to have a job for the time being...SLB will reduce global manpower till the end of this year...

i think u r contradicting ur self here... u said at most 5 of forumers here are working with slb...and dat represents 5/90k = 0.005% of so-called defections and insecurities inside the company as per ur post...dat not even close to 1% of the total employee and yet u r deducting and judging the company...

nevertheless, its up to u to whether like or hate slb..u perceptions towards the slb doesn't lead any harm or good though.. tongue.gif

Guys,

for your info there' a clause in SLB employee manual : 'Termination "without cause"...=they can terminate you if they don't like you/ financial crisis/ down sizing

And, its without any mercy. Once you join SLB..dare to face this kind of risk.
