hey guys,

we went to pick out our pup from the litter on Monday. We found a list of test to do on the pup but it wasn't a hard choice. The one we chose was more receptive than the other.

The other one, when we called and called, the fella don't know how to come to us! hehe, but they are SOOOO cute.

Anyways, here is the link to see the pictures of Dexter who is only 5 weeks old.

http://teresaling.com/dexter

He will only be coming home with us on the 28th.

Wow, that's a nice kennel.
I don't think my house has space big enough for that.

QUOTE(sirisaac @ Aug 26 2009, 11:32 PM)
Hi,

glad to have someone here that have experience on gsd. as for temperement and nerve, that is very important just so one does not get a burden in years to come. but i beg to defer because if look come last, then one do not need to get a gsd maybe a mali, rott or etc. as for ppl that thinks a dog is to protect you and your family, you are right but only to a certain extent. i have always said, my dogs are only used as determent for the robbers so they would not climb into my house but to let me dogs attack a man with a weapon in hand, i will not let my 'best friend' go near the robber. i love them too much to even take that the chance. as for working breed, gsd are very adaptable i would say. for example herding, search, protection, companion and etc. any pics to share?

I agree with sirisaac. I wouldn't let my dog near a robber if they have a weapon. As long as they can scare off robbers or strangers then I am happy.
My dog is part of my family and I would never let them get hurt.

as for looks, different people have different taste. I know some who don't like GSDs because they are ugly. But I think they are extremely macho. brows.gif

Btw, my dog has Coccidia. Has diarrhea these few days so took him to see the vet and confirmed Coccidia. Now he is on medication but still not eating too well. We give him I/D mixed with his kibble but he does not have the appetite to eat. When I give him chicken, skali makan everything.

How to make him eat the kibbles and I/D ah?

Anyone knows where to buy Orijen around KL-Putrajaya-Cyberjaya region?
thanks smile.gif

Hector,

Earlier Goodkat and I bought Orijen from Seapark, only to find that many people say the protein level is too high for pups. It is much better when they are grown up. That is why we switched to Natural Balance. But if you want choices, I'd recommend Seapark at PJ. They have a lot there for you to choose.

Alternatively, you can see http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/229386 for the petshop directories.

Where did you get your pup ah? By chance, is he from USJ? We just got our recently, same age as yours. This Tuesday, he will be 9 weeks! He was so thin the other day because of Coccidia but after a visit to the doc, he's much better and eating well. Now fatty bom bom already!

Show us some pictures of your doggy?

Actually Dexter is small compared to the other German Shepherd. This one close up, make him look BIG!
TheSieger's pup looks big. Think he will grow to be a big dog.

shutterclick,

nice pics. actually with my dogs, the best time to give command is dinner time. lol. then they will do anything for food. ehehh. the collar your dog is using is that leather or cloth? if it is cloth, does it smell after some time of using?
*
He is most obedient when I take out the ball. Whatever command also will listen, as long as I don't give him the ball. Skali give him, then again, everything go out the window! Haha.

I am using cloth collar. It smells lah if you really put to your nose and smell. Haha. But if not, it's ok. If it's hanging and you walk pass it, won't smell it one.

I haven't tried using leather though.

This is so sad to hear. sad.gif

It's not easy to see someone you love struggle like that. When was this?
I wonder can ask someone to cut the grass at the house? Quite dangerous like that. I mean if it's not dog/cat/animal, then humans might kena from the snake too.

Added on July 28, 2010, 12:49 pmOh, btw, I will be bringing Dexter to the UPM dogathon this year. His first public outing. I hope I won't slide across the field with him pulling me.
hehe....he's capable!

anyone going?

I am going too. With my Dexter. If you see a girl being pulled by a German Shepherd, that's me.

Jeins, isn't that Pluto? He's got the same birthday as Dexter!

i have a golden retriever. Wanted her to give birth so that i can give the babies to my cousin. Anyone here have Labrador or  German Shepherd (MALE) that can give my Golden some help ... =P
*
Taking care of a pregnant dog and then monitoring the birth of the babies is no joke. It's tough work and if you don't know how, it's gonna be even tougher. Like jitshiong said, I am not here to dice you too. Please think before doing it.

If you want to give your cousin a dog, I'd suggest for you to either get a puppy somewhere or adopt a dog.

=)

everyone else,

I went to the dogathon and saw quite a number of GSDs. The numbers are increasing!! Last year, I didn't see too many of it.
When we are done for the day, my Dexter already so pooped! haha. It was a nice outing. This is the first time he see so many dogs around him but he behaved quite nicely. I didn't go sliding across the field with him. smile.gif

BTW, I am feeding Dexter with Orijen. At the start, he's eating very nicely....he got buffed up quite a bit. Nice looking. Then suddenly, he just have no mood to eat. So he ate less and less, still on Orijen and I didn't feed him anything different. Poop all ok. Anybody has any ideas what I can do to help him eat the appropriate amount? He's quite skinny. sad.gif

And also, is it normal for GSDs if you feed them a little bit more, they will cirit birit? My Dexter, if I give him like 1/4 more food, he'll cirit birit dee. It happens to any kinds of brand, not only Orijen.
