I am interested to get a German Sheperd but my friend told me that they have some weak back legs when they start getting old or age. Is this true and how can I avoid this from happening?

Edit: I'm planning to get a good guard dog for my house and also a source of companionship for me at the house. Previously I have two stray dogs before (rescued them) but they died of old age. sad.gif My house can occupy 6 cars so this is not a problem for space if the dog want to exercise. smile.gif

Hi Icehart,

It will be a good idea to do some checking on the GSD that have some strong schutzhund line but not show line.

Your house might be able to occupy 100 cars and is still a problem if u don't exercise your dog.  How many dogs

can u see running around on its own in an open field?  Did u get the point?

Check up in youtube on schutzhund GSD and look how they run and then compare with the show line.

Pls take note that some show line GSDs also have some very good schutzhund background and they are

very expensive.

It will be a good idea to check out the Malinios and Rhodesian Ridgeback.

Hi Jesstin,

Yeah I got your point. I know I will need to exercise with the dog always, but few pages back on this thread somehow indicates that lack of ample space in the house can also cause a dog to get bored easily as spaces are confined, or am I wrong at this one?

Thanks for the information. I'll look that up. icon_rolleyes.gif
