I do not understand Jose. Throughout his Career he has basically got 1-0 up and defended. That leaves zero margin for error. Even the worlds greatest defence can let one it. Conte showed that if you attack and go 2-0, 3-0 up it doesnt matter if you let one in.
By sitting at 1-0 and bringing on defenders / holding players you are literally inviting the players to attack you and have the ball. There was an opportunity to bring on Mata and Lingard/Rashford and counter attack properly. Instead he went and brought on Fellaini who cannot pass, he slows down attacks (Making the sub of rashford pointless) and generally makes the game because attack vs defence. I hate the concept of sitting at 1-0 and just praying that the other team with all the ball cant score. Yes Fellaini fucked us over, but sitting at 1-0, that can ALWAYS happen. I really hate the 1-0 and defend style, utterly shit game. |
