Where is the old Zint? Are you only reserving the best of you for your personal projects?

Keith's lawak kampus is very moe now, almost too much.
Relies too much on 'inside jokes', Xena chasing Vaness, Froggy sees ghost etc as a gimmick.
Jokes geting too over the top.

C2V is back, great usual stylized art.
Good content, good jokes.
Nothing over the top, pretty 'lowkey' lol.

Not sure if xanseviera is official in house artist, 10yrs ago she mcm regular freelancer.
No improvement, so i guess that's a downside?
She's clearly a female otaku. You know...

A couple or so new artists, so can't count them in, everybody's got to start somewhere, good or bad.

Puyuh still GOAT, like one of the few old members still drawing for Gempak.

Slaium is chief editor or art director something IINM, oversees all manuscripts sent to Gempak, works mostly behind the desk, haven't seen his works in Gempak anymore.

Regulars from Fakhroul Anour, Nizam Bachok etc still with their own great personalized style, Nizam with his HK/Murican comic style.

Remember King Kong? Was it on Utopia?
Teenager with psychic powers, naik scooter.
He was on Komik Remaja briefly, with his own let's learn to draw series...stolen from Loomis lolol.
Now I realized mostof his panelswere plagiarized somehow.

Ben no improvement langsung, still with his symbol drawing, dat mouth, dat eyes, copy pasta since day1, every character has the same face.

Puppeteer is edgy as always, even edgier now that he's actually gotten better, but still style over substance mia.

Apoh is Zuan, style very linear and clean nowadays, perhaps coz everything is digital today.
His drawing strokes and lines traditionally was great, during his Mat Gempak run.
He's working on the more kiddie stuff I think, one of the educational adventure comic.

My favorite Gempak comic series growing up was Kutu's Red Head, very stylized, very Murican, reminds me of Hellboy (one time Gempak was crazy with Hellboy)....and it was from Tan Eng Huat...DC artist lol

Kenny dunno go where dy, mcm into toys and design now. Style similar to C2V.

I know I'm just reminiscing the old times.

But still yeah, it's the same artstyle. He's done many artworks for some Chinese MMO IINM.

Most of it was just pointless DeviantArt drama. Admittedly, i was kinda... 'loud' and 'aggressive on my opinions about how local Jap style artists should make their content so a lot of them didnt take it very well. I also sucked much more at drawing back then, so they took me even more lightly.

At the time, many Jap style local cartoonists, even when they make original comics, i saw all of them as little more than masturbatory works about their own fantasies with Japan. Their artworks arent just Japanese by art style, but also tried to be so with their subject, storytelling and setting. But since they are not Japanese, they felt like hollow imitations of their favorite works. As a Malaysian, i could not relate with ANY of their works even though a good amount of them are Malay Muslims like me.

I was very vocal against it, they thought "who the fuck is this guy?", got annoyed with my aggressiveness and eventually ignored me. For them, they just want to draw what they like. End of story. They do have every right to, but i was too harsh when talking about it.

I still stand by the opinion that our local artists wont gain any notable attention until they start drawing subjects that are more familiar with their own lives instead of what they saw and fantasize from their favorite Japanese works, but no one will give a fuck because I lack the skill to have any sort of credentials on the matter.

This is why i am even more resentful of Ujang's editorial staff, for preventing Jap style artworks from becoming mainstream enough to produce stories relatable to average Malaysians（Malays especially) instead of all this high fantasy stuff or Japanese anime school settings.

Taufan is the guy.. Very reminiscent to the old HK comics.

IINM early in Gempak got a whole series of Hikayat something2 with Silat instead of Wuxia. With all the Pencak and Jurus and Petala lol Heckline's favorite.

They were also hampered by licensing issues and censorship.

'Oh! Dewi' (Oh My Goddess, ああっ女神さま）was one of my favorite Malay translated mangas, but it stopped distribution after vol.14 because some turbanheads got butthurt and claimed it to hurt Muslims' sensitivities. That one really pissed me off, as i continued to read it online and my akidah hasnt deviated yet as those turbanhead claim i would be.

eh bro, oh dewi ada sampai vol. 20++ la, the other day I passed by one of those suncomics outlet and peeked at their malay manga bookrack.

starting with vol. 15, they changed the spine colour from red to blue.

and last vol. was released around 2010.

What?! That cant be. I used to look all over the damn bookstores, even bigger ones like Popular. Not to mention i was still living in Selangor at the time.
