This is the part where i get confused. What is the point of backing up the folders? I mean, IF i forgot to backup, what will happen?
*
If you didn't backup the folders, you'll have to create them all manually since the memory stick will be empty after formatting.

QUOTE(WilliamG @ Nov 16 2007, 03:22 PM)
You'll need to format it from psp in order to get back those folder and it'll become back to FAT32 format....

Am i correct??  innocent.gif
*
That's why he said that you need to backup the folders first, (example, copy them to your desktop) before formating to FAT, and then copy back the folders into the memory stick after you've formatted the memory stick to FAT.

Wait... when u say PSP slim can't run kernel 1.5, does this mean there is no homebrew (application) for the slim? or do the programmers need to do something to the codes to make it runnable on the slim?
*
PSP Slim can run homebrew as long as it does not require 1.50 kernel to run.

hmm.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif i thought the black one can see handprint smudges right? i think, i heard it somewhere.
*
Then don't buy the black one. Go to the shop, see the real life PSP and pick which ever color you like.

PSP in Sony's promo picture doesn't look the same in real life. I was disappointed when I see the real life Ice Silver PSP. sad.gif

If it was me, I'll choose the black one because it'll match with my Sony Walkman digital audio player. Just wipe it off after you finished playing your games and it shouldn't be a problem unless you have OCD.

At least if someone else is playing your PSP without your permission, their fingerprint will be all over your PSP and you can use it as an evidence against them. wink.gif

is there any indication when the PSP is full charged..
i'm using PSP slim CFW 3.71 M33-2, i'm thinking wheter to upgrade to 3.71 M33-3 or not, can the pro give suggestion..
*
When the battery is fully charged, the orange power LED will turn off.
I suggest that you upgrade to 3.71 M33-3 because it fixed bugs found in the earlier version.

i know that i can upgrade it myself, but i'm afraid of bricking my psp..
so can i just go to any shop that sell psp and ask them to upgrade it, if can where is the best place to go

thank you
*
Yes you can, but some shops are charging outrageous prices for upgrading the firmware. It's up to you to decide whether you want to pay someone else to do it for you or save some money by doing it yourself.

It's easy enough to do it on your own if you follow the instruction step by step. It took me less than a minute to upgrade to 3.71 M33-3.

hey, is playing old PS games safe on the PSP? Asking for friend...he wants to play FF9 =.=

Yes it's safe or else why would Sony sell PS1 game on PSN to play on PSP if it could brick their customer's PSP?

so watching movie is nice but whut do u guyz thinnk bout the sound?
*
The speaker is small, and I can't hear spoken voice-overs in games / videos properly using the speaker even when the volume is set to max. The only way to overcome this problem is to use a pair of earphone. Sound quality via earphone is acceptable for me.

I thought you can skip SCE logo while booting PSP by modifying a setting under recovery menu?

It's under Configuration > Skip Sony Logo.

helo psp sifus,
these questions i wanna ask spesifically to audiophiles who own psp. how's the SQ of psp?how's the bass sound?is it comparable to mp3 players out there?let say take ipod as comparison. is it comparable to ipod in terms of its sound and audio when playing mp3s?psp SQ wins ipod or lose to ipod? tenkiuuu in advance wink.gif
*
No. My Sony's Digital Music Player A.K.A Walkman can produce better audio quality than PSP. The bass sucks and there's no way to set custom equalizer.

I heard from a friend saying that the 8GB aren't so stable in the PSP. Is this true? I'm planning to get an 8GB card soon. Please advice.
*
Most probably because FAT vs. FAT32 thing.

Memory sticks run slower on PSP when formatted to FAT32, and IINM, FAT can only be used with drives up to 4GB, larger than that, it has to be formated to FAT32.

So if you buy a 8GB Memory Stick, you probably have to format it to FAT32 and will result in slower read/write speed when used in PSP.

(I think the guy from the shop enabled for me already since i enter recovery menu and it says flash is already activated, hate when people do things without my knowledge (the gal from bernard shop), she take my psp and press something in there, now i know what she press, i try to look at it but she hide it from me)
*
Haha, happened to me too when I bought my PSP from SCE. The girl at his shop accessed something in the Recovery Menu on the PSP and try to hide it from me.

Probably they did that because they don't want the customers to know about the Recovery Menu. Most of the time, the customers do something they're not supposed to (example, change something in the Recovery Menu) and when something went wrong, they blame the shop. doh.gif

just go to the recovery menu to enable flash (right button + start)

Right Button + Start?

I thought to access Recovery Menu, we must hold the "R-Trigger" while turning on the PSP?

prolly gonna get flamed for this, but i'll ask anyway

wats the difference with 3.71 firmware for Slim PSP and Fat PSP

as far as I know, Slim 3.71 can't play certain homebrews or something?

What are the things lacking in the Slim 3.71 firmware compared to the fat one?
Pardon the n00bie question.
*
The firmware is same for both PSP Fat and Slim, but you cannot run kernel 1.50 on PSP Slim which some old homebrews requires to run properly.

What old homebrews are we talking about here? Anything worth mentioning?

Other than that, no other drawbacks? the PS1 emulator works just as well?
*
AFAIK, most of the popular homebrew application has been recompiled to work on PSP Slim. PS1 emulator works fine on both PSP Fat & PSP Slim.

My first question will be how is the battery life of Slim over the Fat? I have done researches from online, some said Slim has better battery life but some said no. sweat.gif
Second question: What is the earphones port for Slim? Is it the normal 3.5mm jack head? unsure.gif
*
1. PSP Slim comes with a smaller capacity battery (1200 MAh) compared to PSP Fat (1800 MAh), but battery life are about the same due to PSP Slim's improved power consumption. You can get extended battery life if you use the PSP Fat's battery on the PSP Slim.

2, Yes, it's 3.5mm jack head.

I am not really a hardcore gamer. wink.gif

Playing video from memory stick, with 3rd brightness level and 80% audio volume level, I can get around 6 - 6 1/2 hours of battery life.
