From an OE FW to another OE firmware, you can just install it straight away. no need to Downgrade to 1.5 first.

Dark_Alex FW updater will format the PSP flash memory first before installing new OE firmware. So, it doesn't matter which FW you are using.

I've done 3.03 -> 3.10 -> 3.03 then to 3.10 again all OE.

Hope this helps.

Let me try to answer the q's....anyway you should be looking at the FAQ's first before asking these q's...

QUOTE(revolution2008 @ Sep 2 2007, 12:13 PM)
I am interested in getting one PSP. I got noob questions here,

1. is it hard to get the 1.50 firmware PSP nowadays, do the v1.50 PSP more expensive in 2nd hand market?

No it's not and should not be more expensive since all the PSP (except the new PSP Slim) can be downgraded to 1.5. If a shop said that version 1.5 is more expensive...you are being con...go to other shop...and to add, no need to get a PSP with a version 1.5 firmware as a version M33 3.52 custom firmware is a much better choice

2. when upgrade to V3.52, can it be downgraded to 1.50? If not, how to run homebrew on 3.50?

If you used the official 3.52, then you can downgrade using the new Pandora's Battery method. you can read it up here. On downgrading official 3.50 firmware...you can use the Hen Downgrader also by team Noobz here.

3. V3.52 M33 firmware, is it 2 firmwares combine? How to switch from one firmware to another?

Basicall yes...but to be more simple it's a custom firmware by team M33. Custom firmware works by combining the files of version 1.50 and version 3.52 official update files. It give the best of both worlds...the homebrew friendly feature of version 1.5 and the later normal feature of official version 3.52 from Sony.

You don't really need to switch anything coz it works like a 2 in 1 shampoo.  biggrin.gif

4. I think some later games wont support V1.50 anymore, am I right? But then if have to use 3.50, then we wont able to run home brew is it?

yes, later games required the PSP to be installed with the latest firmware. Yes, if you upgrade to the latest official firmware, you won't be able to run homebrew...but nowadays you can just buy a PSP with custom firmware M33 3.52 pre-installed. so no worries.

5. Can we load games from MSPD itself?

Have to be careful here (strictly no piracy talk), On custom firmware only, Yes. If you'd want to backup you own UMD games so you can play it off the MSPD on custom firmware (M33 3.52)...yes you can.

And if you have a PS3, on official firmware, you can transfer PS1 games from the PS3 to the PSP. But only the purchased games from PSN stores and not the disc based ones.

6. How much is one spare battery for PSP (the big one, not slim edition)?

This questions you can ask thee various game shops or even Sony Style.... Try Bernards shop. He has a thread in ConsolesCouch section. Shop's name, Gamers Solution.

7. How is the audio quality when listening to mp3 and wma song? Can we use homebrew software to listen mp3?

First, no need to use homebrew to play MP3 or WMA. Audio quality wise, It's good enough for me but I have to buy a RM 150 in-ear phones to be able to enjoy the great sound quality.

added 8. Can we play .avi xvid/divx directly without conversion on PSP? The resolution let say 640*480, do we need to resize to be playable on PSP?

Direct answer, no, you can't directly play *.avi files on a PSP. it has to be coverted and resized. PSP support up to 720x480 resolution.

added 9. What so special about PSP slim, apart from  longer batt life and smaller? blink.gif

You can get the latest review of the new PSP Slim if you were to read it up in the games website...most of the people here have never hold and play it yet...and this question has been asked for so many times...please read through the forums/threads. and you can get more info at those games website rather than here...pics too!!! so please... shakehead.gif

and lastly, google's your friend so ask them.

its my question thus far, this is my first time into PSP since I want a portable entertainment device aside from PC biggrin.gif
