Hello everyone. I have decided to buy a unit of PSP Slim after a comparison with NDSL. biggrin.gif
First and foremost, please pardon my ignorance for some of my questions here regarding PSPS. notworthy.gif I am sorry if my questions are already repeated for numerous times here. notworthy.gif
My first question will be how is the battery life of Slim over the Fat? I have done researches from online, some said Slim has better battery life but some said no. sweat.gif
Second question: What is the earphones port for Slim? Is it the normal 3.5mm jack head? unsure.gif

Hope you all can help me on this. These two issues are my current doubts for Slim. blush.gif
If no problem, I'll be joining the PSP community in this January. wink.gif

1. PSP Slim comes with a smaller capacity battery (1200 MAh) compared to PSP Fat (1800 MAh), but battery life are about the same due to PSP Slim's improved power consumption. You can get extended battery life if you use the PSP Fat's battery on the PSP Slim.

2, Yes, it's 3.5mm jack head.

Thanks for the reply. biggrin.gif Okay, I will just charge the battery since I heard it takes approximately of an hour time to get it fully charged? Fat's battery on Slim? sweat.gif

Yeah, hope I can get it on my hands once my exam finish on 2nd. biggrin.gif

it's slightly more than an hour i think... but you ll see the power LED off when the batt has fully charged
to use fat's batt on Slim u ll need a special battery cover, not sure it's on retail yet now...

actually PSP Slim and fat...both also having the same standby/gaming time, my experience is it won't go more than 4 hours in intensive gaming, running at 333mhz @ mspd. The batt life is even shrinking if running UMD sweat.gif

Okay, how about for movie? smile.gif
I am not really a hardcore gamer. wink.gif

I think it's not worth the money if you're buying it just to watch movie lor.. but if u wanna play games as well then it's useful.
*
I understand that point. biggrin.gif
As I am not a hardcore gamer for now, not sure after I own a PSP. tongue.gif
Any games suitable for females? blush.gif

However, guys if I may ask will 8GB MSPD make the psp lag? Or I should just stick with 4GB? hmm.gif

not sure whether the firmware support 8 GB yet, but because 8 GB would have to use FAT32 format, unlike 4 GB which still can use FAT16, thefore 8 GB will be slower.

games ah... PSP games mostly focussed on killing people one tongue.gif
apart from that left only musical, puzzle, racing, simulation...

actually for gals, NDS is more suitable...
*
Okay, thanks for the information. smile.gif
Well, I love racing and simulation games. biggrin.gif Puzzle too. Hey, musical? This sounds interesting. biggrin.gif

Just from my house, gals can also play the psp. Give it a try, most multi portable consoles games are better played on the PSP then the DS.

Here are what my wife loves playing

1. Puzzle Quest - (Way better then DS versions, i play it too)
2. Luxor
3. Diner Dash (She still play it even already finish 1,2,3 on the PC and the DS)
4. Super Collapse 3
5. Loco Roco
5. Lumines 1,2

apart from this 'casual games' she's finish

1. Ratchet and Clank
2. GTA SA&VC (Favourite - still playing to get 100%)
3. Medal of Honor
4. Call of Duty
5. NFS Series.

Well, most of the time she just play the DS. So just give a try there might be some games that interesting to gals too.

Wow, thanks for the list. I will look into them when I got mine soon. biggrin.gif

I love GTA and NFS series. wink.gif

Guys, I was at Sunway Pyramid just now and I used my PSP to surf the Internet, the signal showed 92% of strength which is good right? It did work but I can't scroll down the page... It kept stuck on the top of the page, I tested with LYN forum... sweat.gif doh.gif

I am using PSP 2000, firmware 3.71 m33-4. smile.gif

Hope somebody can teach me how to scroll it down, I pressed the "down" arrow key but it didn't move... doh.gif

Instead of plugging the default earphones into the controller, you can plug in desktop speakers into it (that's if the slim and the fat PSP's earphones are of the same mechanism).

Oh I see... That means if without the controller, it won't work? unsure.gif hmm.gif

Yup. Unless you have some accessories which can replace the controller's job (not sure of its existence) and act as a converter..
*
Oh okay, understood. If I have use it with the controller, will the battery drain out fast? hmm.gif
I think I read from somewhere here that, the battery drains out faster if use the PSP built-in speaker? unsure.gif

QUOTE(ffrulz @ Jan 10 2008, 03:20 PM)
Yes you can directly plug in external speakers to the PSP provided it's the Green 3.5" jack.
*
Sorry, may I know how does a Green 3.5" jack look like? blush.gif

Er.. Battery-wise, I don't know much.. Sorry..

Erm, the 3.5mm jack is the one used by desktop speakers.. On the other hand, you have another jack which is 2.5mm (which is obviously smaller) used by mobile phone earphones..
*
Ya, I know about the 3.5mm jack, but green colour? hmm.gif

Hello all, my PSP's battery drains out fast due to my excessive gaming activity. laugh.gif
So, I am thinking to get myself another battery... I want to know if there is any device to get the additional battery charged without using the PSP? As you can see, if I buy another battery, I'll be using one in my PSP while waiting for another one to be charged.
Actually I am quite afraid if I take out the battery too often, the battery cover will become lose eventually. sad.gif

What about you guys? How do you all solve this problem? Advice is much appreciated. notworthy.gif

I've also successfully upgraded to 3.80 m33-2, thanks to a forummer here. rclxm9.gif

By the way, since this thread is for beginners like me, may I ask how to screenshot from my PSP? blush.gif
