@liverpool red

1) I have my PSP since it's launch, 2 years with no problems at all
2) With the recent release of PSP slim, surely there will be more games announced, just not at the rate of DS or actually far far behind DS in this regard
3) Didn't check this, the price thread should help

If you don't want to have any fingerprint on your PSP, wear glove while playing games. tongue.gif

At least if someone else is playing your PSP without your permission, their fingerprint will be all over your PSP and you can use it as an evidence against them. wink.gif

Anyway, I don't know, I have a black unit without any cover on for two years but I hardly noticed the finger prints, it can be easily wiped off anyway and I don't think it really matters that much coz every time you pick up the PSP, the only thing you want to do is to play! asap!

Hi PSP gamers,

I am a complete new beginner and i am thinking of getting a PSP this year end. Read the first few pages of this thread but i don't have the time to read all 100 pages. so i am going to ask a few simple questions:

1) what is the lifespan of the PSP?
2) will new games continue to be released for this console?
3) if i were to drop by Sg Wang and browse around, what sort of pricing should i be prepared for? 700? 800?

That's all. Sorry if these questions have been asked a million times but i just can't squeeze in the time to read everything.

Thanks

1) No one can assure you about the lifespan of the PSP. I mean, we couldn't predict how long will it take for Sony to release a new PSP in the future. All in all, i guess there is still at least a year lifespan left with the launching of the new Slim.

2) Of course there is. At least when you went and search for game, there is still alot of coming soon games..

3) Be prepared to fork out around RM800+ for a full 4GB package.

LOL..I for one cares about fingerprint very much. LOL..At least i do not want to see my beloved gadget looking ugly. LOL..

But there is one thing good that i sees in the Slim as compared to the Phat. It might be fingerprint magnet for being glossy but the Phat is even more prone to getting dirty due to the matt paint at the back. Hence, its even harder to clean it IF it gets dirty.. tongue.gif

I want to ask a question regarding the remote play function of the PSP!

Is it a must to update the PSP firmware to the latest in order to remote play the PS3? I am using the 3.71 M33-3.
*
If youre using firmware 2.00-2.01 for your PS3, then yes. You need to upgrade your PSP to the latest firmware. And, in this case, official 3.72 firmware, bcoz currently there's no custom firmware for 3.72, yet.

Hmm. Thinking of getting myself a PSP too.

So basically, if all I want to do is play original games and view pics+vids on the PSP, I just need to update to the latest 3.72 firmware?

Is there anyone who still sells the PSP that doesn't have custom firmware besides GH?

Also, since I'm not really storing anything on the MSPD, will I need the 4GB one off the bat?

Thanks.

I just found out how to configure the PSP CFW 3.71 M33-3 to enable to remote play!
U dun need to upgrade to 3.72!

Took me a few day surfing the web to find out how! The source of the guide i also not sure already there are a few webpage have it posted up! I think u may find it in PSP hack or any site that has modding PSP
Here is the guide:

1. Dl the latest 3.72 firmware (go to the sony official site)
2. Dl M33_NEWPSARDUMPER (dark alex site got it)
3. Connect ur PSP with the USB
4. Rename the the 3.72 firmware to EBOOT.PBP and place it in the root menu of ur memcard (just in the memcard not in any other folders)
5. Unzip ur M33_NEWPSARDUMPER and place it in the memory card's\PSP\Game folder
6. Disconnect ur PSP from the PC and run the NEWPSARDUMPER from ur PSP memcard
7. It will enter a command prompt format with a few selection, Press SQUARE button to decrypt the 3.72 firmware (here will need to wait for awhile)
8. After it is done reconnect ur PSP to the PC and copy the premo_plugin.prx (fo\vsh\module) & premo_plugin.rco (fo\vsh\resource) and paste them in ur PC.
9. Now u may delete all the files ur paste in ur PSP earlier since they are useless now! (Dun disconnect ur USB cable first, there is still further usage)
10. Turn off ur PSP and turn in back on to load into PSP recovery menu (do so by pressing the R Button while Switching ON the PSP)
11. In the recovery menu select "advance" then select the "Toggle USB (flash 0)"
12. Now ur PC will pop up a windows which show u the contents just like the folder decrypted earlier
13. Paste the 2 files ur copy earlier to replace the premo_plugin.prx and premo_plugin.rco (locate in the same folder u copy them from)
14. Now u may Exit the recovery menu, do so by select the Toggle USB (flash 0) ->Back -> Exit
15. Ur psp will restart into the XMB menu, u are now able to remote play ur PS3 now!

I did it and it is confirm sure working for me! For those who want to tried feel free to do so!

Yeap!

U can just buy any preloaded PSP with CFW and have it updated to official firmware, or just like me when i got my NDSL from Connie, to have one reserved unpatched when the new batch arrived. They usually took the whole batch of any consoles ( except the PS3 of course ) to the technician for modding. This save 'em time. So basically asked them to have one reserved.

I guess that depends. I personally believed for those who plays original, 2GB of Memory Stick is suffice. U'll need the extra space for downloadable game updates or expansions and game demos. Now that u can access Playstation Network via the PC, it's easier getting those demos.

If you don't mind hassle, then 2GB should be enough. All you need to do is to change that specific game related files when you want to play the other games.

Am I right? sweat.gif
