i dont think what u think is possible ... even if u install the server version of an AV into the server, u'll still need to install the client version of that AV into each set of PC ... it means 15,320x installing work

icon_rolleyes.gif my 2cents

ps : Symantec Antivirus is an antivirus program like Kaspersky, generally the idea of installing 2 antivirus software in one computer is not recommended (unless one is set for autoscan and the another is for manual scanning)

How about using Ghost? It's far more easier.
Get the original image from the schools, you install the KAV, rebuilt the image, and let themselves ghost.

With this way it's independant and way faster.

hmm...may be loh...sorry, but dun know "total commander" or what commander .....coz last time i saw admin of cybercafe using some kinds like that software to control all the pc at one time, at that time i also tried b4 but not very remember the software name only!

about virtual pc, you can install the microsoft patch all over the network in one time!

but if is antivirus, symantec client antivirus is a good choice to install

for other software, you will need a remote network control software!

I believe karpersky also have client/server edition. But since you need to install into 15,000 PCs, unless they are all networked, it will be hard to install.

Here is what you should do :

1) install server edition in each school's server

2) install clients from the each server. Can push installation to workstations.

3) if the school have lots of PC, you can install in a few server so that you don't hog one server when there are updates

4) license will have to be calculated accordingly

5) if not networked, then you must install each PC one by one. Without network, updating the virus pattern is going to be headache.

license should be no problem if you get the client/server edition. It's meant to be installed in a networked environment. Since you are buying in such a bulk, then it should be quite cheap. Don't tell you you are installing some ahem version. Cause if yes, then I am going to report you because 1 school I get RM20,000. If 100 schools I get RM2,000,000!!! smile.gif

try trend micro, I have been using it for awhile if u do not mind to pay for the license AV. it will create a link for u in the server, after that send this link to every users thru email, so u do not have to install all the client 1 by 1 and yet trend micro will push all the latest pattern to all clients. 1 more additional plus of TM is u can force every users pc to scan itself if u have detect certain virus or spyware in tat pc thru server.

My University is using Novell. When they wanna patch the computers, it's all done by one command in the IT Support Lab.

Damn easy for them. smile.gif
