Since both games are around the same price range in Steam, was hoping to get K/tards opinion on which game should I get?

1. Do I need to play part I and II in order to understand III?
2. What's the main difference between Dark Souls III and The Witcher 3?

dark soul 3 too hard for me
witcher 3 too complex and dull for me

Witcher 3 have a clearer story, I play Dark Souls 2 had no idea whats going on, just hack and slash away

Buy both, no need to play so don't bother thinking which one has this and that... if you 30 min one each game than it's a bonus..

Really?? But from what I read in the reviews, they say Dark Souls' story line is one of the best ever created. In fact they even rate Dark Souls as game of the decade.

Go for witcher if u want story and piap2. But the gameplay is also great.

DS3 if u like challenging game. A lot of secrets and u gotta have patience.

Witcher, well i still remember they are from Kaer Morhen, they are unwanted orphans who went thru tough training and excruciating and deadly mutation to enhance their bodies to be able to fight monsters, and Geralt was killed by peasants and somehow got revived and since then is fighting the Wild Hunt

if u wan story, go for witcher 3. including the expansions too (veli good). not really need witcher 1 and 2, but if you played before you'll appreciate it more (cause some old character cameo cumbak to witcher 3). tips: play alchemy build, you'becum op neva die.

dark souls games is like for die-hard try again reward thing. if this is your thing, you can go for it.

people don't play dark souls for the story, they play it for the difficulty & combat. story is almost non-existent.

- witcher 3 will gib u lots of story & quests. damn even the side-quests is rich and full of backstory.
- it has TWO FULL LENGTH EXPANSIONS!
- the combat doesn't seem to appeal to everyone though as it is easier than Dark Souls. i myself think it's fine.
- has arguably one of the best mini-games in recent times which is a card game called Gwent. fans love Gwent so much that a standalone game is coming soon at the end of this year!
- it's got feels, humor, gore & boobs. (if this makes you uncomfortable you'd be better off playing Minecraft)
- did i mention about Gwent?

Depends on u, if u like story u shud play the prev series. But if u never played any DS series u will be struggling for few hours/days just to survive. And do buy gamepad to play DS.

You will die, over and over and over and over until you git gud.
My total playtime for DS3 around 70 hours. But got coop multiplayer so can play with frens.
DS1,2 and 3 don't have direct storyline. all standalone.

Witcher 3 also one of the best RPG came out this decade.
Not your conventional Tolkien-esque medieval fantasy.
mostly based on scandinavian folklore so quite different than most.
total playtime for me around 100+ hours.
Also can play without playing witcher 1 or 2, and the books, but it's more fun if you do.

The souls series stories are abit "deep", and in the souls series there's no such thing as level difficulty. Is there a bloody level difficulty? As far as I can remember you enter the game shits ady hard yo. Gameplay is mostly about timing and how to attack.

With Witchar the story is nice, gameplay well don't know how to comment on it. But the quest is amazing.

dark soul 3 is like old arcade game, need to try and die many time to learn the way defeat the boss.

dark souls 3 = after praising the sun, you get rammed in your behind again by the next jobber enemy, then you pancuted again, then you try again and rinse and repeat until end.

witcher 3 = it's all about Gwent.

if youre a man and seek challenges in life, go for DS3

if youre slightly poosy and enjoy a story-rich game like most 95% gamers do, go for witcher 3.

both good games. But since thrs no multiplayer in witcher 3, i suggest just torrent witcher 3 and get ori DS3 for pvp

Played both DS3 and Witcher 3 for more than 100++ hours.

If you want challenging, great Co-op and PVP with deep stories and mysteries go for DS3. And be prepare to be invaded by people (online) who just want to kill ya.

If you want easy, linear stories and character and beautiful environment, buy Witcher 3.

Me never played DS and Withchers before, so start at 3 and didn't feel lost. So it will be fine i guess.

Dark Souls has level diffuclties...sort off...each time you finish, the next play-through is harder with new game plus 1-7. The ai enemies not smarter, but just they have longer hp & increased damage.

games is alyiz subjective to every 1

I give you some pointers on W3.

When you're summoned to meet the king in the beginning, you'll be asked lots of questions with related to W2 events.

Don't worry about not playing W2 before, it's just that depending how you answer them, you'll be given extra quests along the journey.

I kind of take it the Souls series is like the Monster Hunter series. It's all about when to block and dodge except this time even when you attack your stamina is drained.

You'd have more fun playing Witcher 3 + expansions. I'm not sure how long Dark Souls 3 is, but you could spend a minimum of a few dozen hours playing Witcher 3.

Dark Souls have an edge in gameplay, but little else. Also frustrating if you dont like dying over and over again to learn how to kill a boss.

Witcher 3 has just 'passable' combat, but excels at literally everything else.

W3 i would suggest play at higher difficulty, it need more strategic like switching the sign and blade oil

Dark souls 3 for a challenging hack and slash (although it gets easy if you master the timing for dodge/ parry / attack like monster hunter) and exploring ruins for secrets and the story of the world.

Witcher 3 for a story about adventure, sex, combat, the human nature, a bit of dark humor, siri and gwent. The expansion also gooding with full blown stories of theor own.

dark souls 3 is hard la....i fight 1 boss after attempt more than 20 times with help from friend also same lol

Story line in The Witcher 3 is farking gooding. Even their side quest is farking interesting. Gameplay wise I feel Dark Soul 3 is better. But you dies a lot in Dark Soul 3 and that frustrates u like fark.

i would go for DS3. you will die again and again uncountable times. until u get damn kao frust. but once u down certain bosses or certain areas, perrghhhhhhh itu feeling manyak bagus.
