1. Sorry, I edited my post and forgot to include the part where I left Sony for fuji. So, I'm with fuji now. Since you said you were also with fuji, I just want to know, when u want to consolidate
both system into 1, why u sold off fuji to stick with Nikon instead of selling nikon to stick with fuji ? Is it because of the huge F mount lenses ?

2. I'm not here to seek justification. If I haven't made myself clear enough in my last post, I'm sorry. Let me say that again, I just want to know what is the ATTRACTION of nikon Z system ? So, for the most of you to stay in Nikon system was it because you already had large amount of F mount lenses ? How about new users ?

The other day, a friend of mine (new in photography) was asking me about the merits of different brand, this was what I've summarise to him..

Sony = Fast AF + great third party support + great DR
Canon = Fast AF + great skintone colors + great touch interface
Fuji = Film simulation + compact + best APSC system.
Panasonic = Great Video features + Good ibis
  Olympus = Great IBIS
  Nikon = ????? I don't know what to say.....

That's why I'm asking....

Nikon's strength are the Z-mount lenses. The Z-mount implementation is the best among all the brands that you have mentioned for full frame. Because of this, they are able to produce great 1.8 lenses with optical quality comparable to the F-mount 1.4 lenses. The 58mm f/0.95 lens is a demonstration of what kind of optical perfection they can achieve with the Z-mount. I feel that their current telephoto offering is superior to the other brands: 400mm f/2.8S with built-in TC, 400mm f/4.5S, 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6S, 600mm f/4 with built-in TC, 800mm f/6.3S, 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3. That 400mm f/4.5S is about the same weight and size as the 70-200mm f/2.8S.

Because of the Z-mount design, it is possible to mount other brands lenses to the Nikon cameras. But other brands cannot mount the Nikon Z lenses to theirs:

Thanks Engseng, that's the answer I'm looking for.  thumbup.gif

To add on, the Z9 and Z8 cameras are currently the only professional mirrorless cameras without a mechanical shutter. The shutter sound is actually a sound file played by the camera.

That looks like a Nikon D5 with 400mm f/2.8E lens?

Guys ... finally I made a purchase of Zfc.

Im kinda having a hard time using it to be honest. (coming from a guy who shoot Fuji for a decade).

It's "TOO" digital for me. I mean.. it's not a complain but I just thought that there are features that's not really needed.

Anyway.. I will shoot with this camera this weekends. See where it goes. Goodluck to me.

What do you mean by "too digital"?

Maybe its the new marketing term for defocus control?

Yes, I also think this lens will have defocus control. This is going to be another very expensive lens.

Light weight and hand-holdable. Nikon is really owning the telephoto lens category now.

Quick price comparison:

Nikon 50mm 1.8s - RM2321
Fujifilm 35mm 1.4 - RM2818
Canon 50mm 1.8 - RM847
Sony 50mm 1.8 FE - RM906
Sony 50mm 1.8 E - RM1124

Nikon 35mm 1.8s - RM3973
Fujifilm 23mm 1.4 WR - RM3938
Canon 35mm 1.8 Macro - RM2162
Sony 35mm 2.8 FE - RM2428
Sony 35mm 1.8 FE - RM2309

Nikon's prices look competitively priced compared to Fujifilm. Canon's RF lenses are optimised for their size and weight. Canon still don't have an RF equivalent of their 35mm 1.4 II.

That is great news for both Nikon and RED. Now Nikon has a cinema line... Probably this will mean RED cameras will have Z mount now, and Nikon will start making cine lenses with T-stops.

But I wonder if this acquisition is affecting the announcement of Nikon's other products?

A casual shot with the Plena.

The bokeh looks very nice! How do you find this lens?

Which Nikon Z camera are you using? How do you find it compared to your DSLR?

35mm f/1.2S is 1060g.
50mm f/1.2S is 1080g.
85mm f/1.2S is 1160g.
135mm f/1.8S is 995g.

Plena is still the lightest. But if you put all these lenses into your bag, total would be 4kg.
