Oh. During the renovation, i did cat6 wiring as well 8 points for cctv and the rest is ethernet port. I'll do the installation by myself. Planning to do it this weekend if all the works is completed.

Hi bro, update us if the installation went well. I'm on the same boat... my renovation is ongoing hence my contractor did Cat 6 wiring for 8 points too. But have not purchased the nvr & camera yet. Looking to purchase in Lazada and install myself.

Sure will do
My setup.
All network cable including fibre will go to 1 place. Install the mounting rack inside there.
My alarm box also is there.
- Patch panel
- Gigabit switch
- 8ch NVR
- Router

Unifi will come and install maybe on saturday if everything goes as planned. I asked my wiring guy to make route for fibre cable from tmbox outside to that room. So later when tm come they just need to pull cable.

My cctv will be 4 outdoor, 4 indoor.

Share the photos bro once done. I was thinking of placement as:

Router, modem & switch at staircase (middle of house)
NVR hidden in plaster ceiling.

Setup:

1. Modem > router > 8 port gigabit switch > RJ45 wall plate (4 rooms, 1 living, 1 family hall)
2. Modem > router > 8 ch NVR > 6 outdoor & 2 indoor cameras
3. NVR > hdmi splitter > HDMI wall plate (living & family hall)
4. NVR > VGA wall plate (Master room)

Am I missing something else?

Hi vignesh77
item 3 and 4, why not use HDMI extender? that way you can just drag additional cat6 cables to your living and master bedroom instead of different and expensive cables? Should be able to save a bit on cables
*
Heyya, just thought bout it. Yes u are right, better to go for hdmi extender...Tq for the heads up bro

Anyone know which type of extender to buy. The stand alone or the one with dc power?

All, another noob question. If i buy 16 port POE Gigabit switch, can i use 5 ports as wall plate for lan connection and balance for powering POE cameras without the need of NVR?

Another Q, if i decide to use NvR without the cat5e ports, the connection will be like Router > POE switch > NVR and the cameras will be connected to the switch?

Got video comparisons to share? 2 & 4Mp.
*
Was reading the other day some UK based site. It seems they prefer 2mp compared to 4mp due to lower noise rate & better sharpness. And also eats up lesser hdd space.

Can't locate the website again. Anyone has experience using both 2mp & 4mp? Please share your thoughts.

Hi guys,
I'm surveying for CCTV, I saw plenty of comparison on Google for Analog vs. IP, both got pros and cons. What is still the suggested method?
Thanks!

Not sure should I ask here..

I'm planning to get around 3~4 PoE CCTV to monitor outside of my house... I'm happy with HikVision or Alhua etc. Do I need an installer... or just its plug and play? If its not too much of a premium i rather someone handle it for me...

Any reputable installer to recommend? Prefer someone who can advice me what unit to get etc.. I dont have time to research into CCTV too many things to do during the renovation...

I recently got @idealhometech to fix my POE Hikvision CCTVs. Price is good. I purchased all the CCTVs and NVR and showed him the locations to fix. His team pulled the Lan cable during my house reno and came back to fix once the reno completed.

Bought from Lazada during 7.7 sale. It was 2mp Hik and 8 channels NVR. Surveyed several places and noticed it was cheaper in Lazada.

2mp quality ok ?clear ?

Yes so far ok for me the clarity. Forgot how much I bought but here is the link from the seller in Lazada. Still seems cheaper than the rest with same specs.

The price might be different than I bought previously.

NVR

Dome

Bullet

so you order separately from many sellers?
more cheaper compare buy full set from 1 seller?
*
Both the dome & bullet was from same seller. However at that point of time, the seller didn't have the NVR which I wanted so chose another seller.

bullet you installed at outside house which is no covered ? its water proved rite?

dome must install under cover .am i right ?

thanks ...

Both the dome & bullet is waterproof (IP67) ratings. But advisable to install dome indoor and bullet outdoor.

Not sure why the rationality behind it but I think because bullet can be easily tilted / change pointing direction.

Hi all, would like to ask. I have several POE cctvs connected to NVR via lan. Recently my router was having issue and thus NVR lost connection. I believe the cctvs will still record and the Nvr stores a local copy in HDD. However, in my case, I can't locate any recordings on this particular day. Only when the router was up again and nvr got the connection, it starts recording back. Is this normal?
