Hi all, thinking of setting up CCTV at home. Seeing some brands like Hikvision, Dahua always quoted here, I engaged a Hikvision salesperson for a quotation as below. Main purpose is just general security and in-house monitoring of maid.

Due to existing wiring (installed many years ago) the person told me I can only use analog camera up to max of 5MP.

Seeking some opinions from sifus here on whether...

- the package is good (any glaring problems)
- the price is reasonable
- any other items

Quotation CCTV 8CH

Hik 8ch dvr system

Hik 5mp IR Dome x 4
Hik 5mp IR Bullet x 4

Internet Setting
----------------
@ RM 2,900.00
----------------

ONE YEAR WARRANTY

Payment Terms
50% deposit upon confirmation
50% balance after installation

-------------------
@ Add rm 150/unit

2) Upgrade to 5mp (Audio) Camera

Thanks sifus

do you plan to upgrade cameras only or with cabling?
what's your current configurations?

thanks ..

I don't have a CCTV system currently, only existing cabling done several years ago (8 CCTV points)..

The sales might not be knowledgeable or real professional in CCTV. Very likely you can do NVR with IP Camera up to 4K or more unless the cabling is in very bad shape.

I see.. the package does seem basic but it might be enough for my needs? Not too familiar with the technical jargons. Is RM2.9k reasonable for my package?
Sorry if questions are dumb, CCTV is something new to me, still lurking around the thread but there is too many pages.

For 2.9K I can recommend you installer that can do IP and if you need 2 way audio dual led tri-guard function no need to top up so much brows.gif
But provided you are in Klang Valley only

If no rewiring, just supply and install, price a bit high.

Thanks, I just saw your PM quotation is higher, what's the difference actually?
