Please stop using power socket for CCTV. Go for solar now.
Robbers can't cut off the sun to power your CCTV.
*
If a robber can turn off the power socket, he can also smash off the camera easily whether it is solar/non-solar.
Unless you are talking about using whole house solar setup which is in different level.

If anyone has concern for power socket to be off by robber, simply make sure both socket and camera are high enough.
Or, just use a battery powered ip camera but there is hassle to recharge it especially when camera is placed high.

Solar powered cctv are running on rechargeable battery.
*
It's not about power source.
Robber may smash down (or spray) the camera whether it is solar battery or grid powered.
The key is the camera must be placed high enough first... when it is high, power socket can be high too.
Battery powered camera is difficult to maintain when the camera is placed high.

My solar powered cctv been running for 6 years and never had a problem maintaining it.
*
As we knew, both rechargeable battery and SD card (if use) have short lifespan.
Perhaps, you have not encountered it yet or your camera is easy to access for maintenance.

I am about to setup full camera system for my new house.
Have been using xiaomi ip cameras for some years but dislike the connection stability and reliability.

Planning to get hikvision Ds-7608ni-k2/8p nvr.
While searching for compatible cameras, there are sea of selections which really confuse me.

Can someone recommends some cameras for the requirements below?

1. Indoor
* 2MP and above.
* Two way audio or with mic only.
* poe
* optional with pan & tilt

2. Outdoor
* 2MP and above
* long night vision
* poe

Wish to settle with single reliable and reputable brand for all cameras for consistency (OCD).

The biggest challenge is hardly find good camera with two way audio.

Initially thinking to settle with hikvision only hoping their cameras work best with same branded nvr.
But... Their camera range is super confusing.

Is 4K quality too high? brows.gif

*
I find 4k less meaningful as I hardly differentiate the quality differences despite consuming significant storage space and slower decoding.

Indoor:
- DS-2CD1323G0-IU (2MP with Mic) - RM220
- DS-2CD1143G0E-I (4MP) - RM250
- DS-2CD1153G0-I (5MP) - RM280
- DS-2CD2143G0-I (4MP) - RM330
- DS-2CD2347G3E-L (4MP ColorVu) - RM550

Outdoor:
- DS-2CD1023G0E-I (2MP) - RM140
- DS-2CD1043G0-I (4MP) - RM210
- DS-2CD1053G0-I (5MP) - RM280
- DS-2CD2043G0-I (4MP) - RM330
- DS-2CD2T47G3E-L (4MP ColorVu) - RM600

2-Way:
- DS-2CD2423G0-IW (2MP 2-Way Audio) - RM300
- DS-2CD2443G0-IW (4MP 2-Way Audio) - RM340
*
This helps, thank you.

The design of two way audio models are unattractive.
I have to settle with the only 2MP model with mic.

What are the differences between the two 4MP camera models for both indoor and outdoor (except colorvue) ?

Did you try viewing on 4K TV & zoom in to the details?
*
For 4k movie, I still can feel the difference... a bit.

For 4k surveillance footage, I have not tried that but I doubt it is useful for my daily monitoring.
My current xiaomk full HD camera can satisfy my needs.
I even transcode it to lower resolution to play smoothly via mobile network.
Hence, I think hikvision 2mp or 4mp are more than enough.

- DS-2CD2143G0-I (4MP True WDR, 2688 × 1520 @ 25fps)

Great, now I get it.

Do you have any recommendations of higher end series with Mic and motorised camera?
Budget about RM500-RM700.

Motorised lens or Pan/Tilt?
Indoor PT:
DS-2CV2Q21FD-IW (2MP, Pan Tilt, 2-way audio)- RM180
Built-in Mic & Speaker, but not PoE, so need to make a power socket for it.

or

Outdoor PTZ:
DS-2DE3204W-DE (2MP, Pan tilt, 4x Zoom, Audio Connector) - RM730

Indoor PTZ:
DS-2DE2204IW-DE3 (2MP, Pan tilt, 4x Zoom, Audio Connector) - RM580

Both PTZ got Audio In/Output Connector, u can connect external mic, speaker to it.

or

Motorised Lens (Varifocal)

DS-2CD2621G0-IS (Bullet, 2MP, 4.2x Zoom, Audio Connector) - RM500

DS-2CD2721G0-IS (Dome, 2MP, 4.2x Zoom, Audio Connector) - RM530
*
Thank you for the suggestion and correction.

What I want was indeed PT indoor POE with mic camera.
The initial suggestion, DS-2CD1323G0-IU (2MP with Mic) matched well but I was looking for better range (ColorVu/DarkFigther are good).

I'm not sure how the audio connector works.
I assume external mic should work with POE camera but external speaker may require additional power supply, right?

Try not to used entry level 4Mp IPC from HIK/Dahua, they sucks on low lux performance because they don't use Sony CMOS but instead used cheap Omnivision sensors.
*
I agree to this.
For now, I would rather get higher range with slightly lower resolution instead of entry model with high resolution.

hi,

I'm looking for HIKVISION camera only, can someone suggest a model with the specs:

* Indoor dome/turret
* IP Camera
* POE
* Built-in mic
* Pan/tilt
* 4MP or above
* Price: Below RM600

Model DS-2CD2143G0-IU is close but missing the Pan/tilt.
Model DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3/W seems perfect but price is too high...

if u want PTZ, cheapest model will be DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 .. around RM600.

No built in microphone for this specific model.

Any other brand of camera that can offer such features?
What Are the limitations when connecting to hikvision nvr?

The link is showing a model with “/w” postfix.
This should cost around 1k (or more) instead of the ~RM600 model which does not have built in microphone.

Anyone know if Hikvision ip camera of China models are compatible with local NVR?

I have been eyeing for some models with certain features but not available in Malaysia market.
They are easily available in taobao.
