Are you locked out from the DVR now? Used SADP on PC sent serial no to HIK for password reset.
And you have yet to tell us how you access the DVR remotely? P2P or Port forward?

The hacker used a scripted application to put some Words on the cameras/channels OSD.
Those hacked DVRs are using old firmware and direct port opened to internet.

We recommend the following actions to mitigate potential risks:
1. Password strength is critical. Please set up a complex password for your devices.
2. Generally, we suggest not to connect devices directly to the open Internet. Instead, place them behind a firewall and use a VPN.
3. It is important to ensure that your decoder/ipcam have installed the latest firmware.

So it's partly HIK fault & users negligence!

I used dlink, very stable. Still working now at customer site. Forgotten the model no. I also used Maxis Aminia MA131, quite stable but I think need maxis simcard.
