i think its safe to say 99% of our phones have the hiss? because somebody from apple california will be calling me tomorrow regarding this hiss issue. i like to tell him how many of us are suffering from the hiss.

but imho i dont think the hiss really affects anything. i tried recording in a quiet room (not 100% but 90% maybe). I tried with iphone 6+, iphone 5, and the iphone 7+. all sounds the same.

when the video camera is on, the hiss seems to disappear anyway

mine hisses even when I use Safari.
I remember reading somebody with week 41 also experiencing the hiss

the thing is even if you can get an exchange, who can guarantee that the replacement set wont have the hiss? and then what? change again?

Which week of manufacturing? 7 or 7+?

on the line with apple support now. this guy on the line have never heard of the hiss problem ...lol. liddat there is no point talking as he wont be able to help except maybe offer to change it for me, but thats not the solution for me.

ok what i did is lodged my complaint for both my phones to them,
if there is a solid solution in the future, at least i can say I already lodged my complaint and waiting for a solution

I find that even with all my apps closed, the hiss is there.
When I open an app like Safari, the hiss gets louder a bit and varies its pitch and frequency

But when I start recording video, the hiss seems to disappear which is a good thing.

I think buat bodoh is correct.
But seriously the hiss doesn't affect anything. You can see in the YouTube video you posted, even with a shotgun mic placed near the phone, it sounded like any other phones.

My guess only, based on how many are reporting it here in the forums. I bought two phones, both also same noise.
Those who said no noise should get their friends to give it a listen to double confirm

I've seen the videos but I have not seen one that shows that you can hear the hiss with the phone in front of you

wow he said he can hear the phone hissing while its placed on the table. That's really bad
in that case, I can declare mine to be hiss free
I can only hear mine when placed right up my ear

Btw, I tried closing all apps. Phone is in locked screen. Still can hear. Only goes off if the screen is off.
Thankfully with camera app on, the hiss drastically reduced to almost none.
