Based on my experience working in telcos in Malaysia..... Voice and data traffic are low during weekend. Rather than let their bandwidth unused, might as well let subscribers use it. This will get more to subscribe with the their plan. And generating more revenue.

3G users saturated causing their 3G network congested already. New way forward for them now is investing in LTE network. Thats why telco creating promo giving 4G data to encourage subs upgrade to 4G phone and at the same time reduce congestion in 3G.

Telco around Asia doing the same too. And before when 2G subs still high, they provide free 3G data for the same purpose.

Finally got my xs 256gb with plan 128 at maxis ipc. Surprised that final price is rm3943 after got another discount rm310.

The staf showed me discount under the name “flash deal”. Anybody got the same discount?

My guess possibly because i’m loyal customer.
