Yes, a RM1,xxx penalty for a contract that has only a couple of weeks remaining makes no sense. Are you certain you contract is till 31 Oct 2021 and not 31 Oct 2022?

Anyways, even if you had an Apple Watch tied to your phone, they will still allow you to sign for a new phone with no penalty. That was what I was told as well. Best to ask them for the complete details on your contract.

sounds like your previous phone was on zerolution360 like my bro's 11 - that is slightly different from normal zerolution. with the 360, you get to upgrade after 24 months of paying for the phone, but you actually don't own the phone yet until month 30. so if you upgrade at month 24, they will charge you a device non-return fee for RM 1700 if you want to keep the phone (if you pass it back to them, they will waive the non-return fee). if you continue paying for your phone past month 24 and upgrade at month 30, you get to keep the old phone for free and sign up for a new standard zerolution where you own the phone after month 24 or 36
