I wonder why they discontinued surfmore 50. Are they gonna replace surfmore with a new plan? Because now it seems that the cheapest postpaid plan offered by maxis should be Maxis One Plan 98 ?

Ya, I had Surfmore 50 too when it was still 2GB smile.gif

You changed to maxis one plan, right? I plan to stick with sm50. I don't find other maxis plans attractive for my usage pattern. Other telcos would have better plans but may not have as good data service/coverage. Have friends using digi and celcom. I had the least complains on maxis.

No replacement plan at the moment for sm50. I noticed after the current CEO took over, various plans (ivalue, surfmore, talkmore) got removed. Only left maxis one plan. Looks like $98 is the cheapest.

I'm trying to recall the plan for iPad devices to see if it's cheaper. Saw it in this thread....

Yeah, previously I had One Plan 128 with 3GB and a Surfmore 50 with 2GB for my iPad, then when they up the quota of One Plan 128 to 10GB, I cancelled my Surfmore 50 and subscribed to their Multi-sim plan (for additional RM15 a month, I get another sim card that shares data quota with my One Plan). As you mentioned, the cheapest plan right now is RM98 for a principal line, but if I want to I can get a supplementary line for just RM48, 5GB data with unlimited calls and texts, which is quite a good deal, but since the iPad has no ability to make or receive calls, I'll leave it as it is for now. Though kinda regretted terminating the Surfmore 50 now that it's been discontinued smile.gif

Like you mentioned, the new CEO seems to be taking maxis in a different direction. Not only are there no more plans for tablets (like Surfmore), I don't see tablets being offered from maxis as well.

But I wonder what's their strategy? Because they actually upgraded the surfmore 50 package data for existing users but removed it from new subscribers. It looks like now Maxis is only focusing on "high-end / premium" customers as the cheapest is RM98 per month for their postpaid plan

I wonder if I can get multi sim for my iPad to share data as well. Let me ask Maxis if I happen to be in pyramid. smile.gif

If you read the article about their 3Q Financial Results lately, their CEO was talking about increasing the ARPU (Average Revenue Per User), so yes, in that sense, they are targeting more high-end/premium customers which would explain their pricing strategy. They will never drop their prices to compete with the likes of DiGi, Celcom and U when their customers still perceive they have a more superior network. Yes, their profits may have dropped since the beginning of the year when the whole social media fiasco about special plans for selective customers came to light, but overall, their revenue increased as many ported back in to MOP 128 when the quota was increased. Their hope is to finally move those on legacy plans to MOP, of course. Even the iPhones now no longer come with iValue plans.

Thanks for the info. I will check it out in Maxis outlet but I'm not in a rush.

Previously, I asked Maxis is I could have a supplementary account to my SM50. They said cannot because the plan already discontinued. Can only supp to MOP. Oh well...

Ya, you can't get a supplementary line but multi-sim should be OK. Must be their evil tactics to switch you over to MOP, heh heh...

If you pay Device Advance RM512, the first 6 months pay 128 - (512 / 6) = 42.67 per month (exclude GST and other services)
Subsequent month 7th to 24th pay RM128 per month (exclude GST and other services)

I'm not sure the Device Advance will split into 4 or 6 months period, but you can recalculate as above.
