To protect our purchasing power, I would say the forex risk of holding the RM is higher than with holding the SGD. History has proven that, unless you are saying RM will soon recover 'permanently'. Even if 'NR' goes, there will only be a slight peak, then gone again,...

Assuming u hold SGD, investor must invest in 'right' asset class in order to reap returns
Thus, execution n theory is 2 different aspects

I look at itin two ways :-

1) the gain from the currency appreciation vs the RM.

2) further gains from investing in right asset classes.

Without looking at 2) above, if we plot the SGDMYR=X, we can see that historically, the SGD has gained over the MYR, at the very least, in the medium term. Of course, we should not be selling next week after buying this week,...

Then you add in 2) above, and you can figure out the profits...

On point #2, it's tough n challenging to pick n choose the right asset class (aka looking for a needle in a haystack)

Today received the ASW2020 statement ( 2 months plus later after calendar closing on 30-Aug), why so late received.

And, also found that they have separated statement ASW20202 from ASM and AS1M statement,  as few months ago received ASM statement, inside the statement has several columns ASM, ASB2, ASG - Pendidikan, AG - Kesihatan, ASG - Persaraan.

Another question that AS1M already closing the calendar during 30-Sept, until today not yet received the statement.

Isn't that they combine into 1 account number, the statement should have covered all the funds e.g. ASW2020, ASM, AS1M, ASG etc .....

By default, ASNB must send out AR to unit holders within 2 mths from year end closing
Thus, u can expect softcopy of AS1M AR by 30/11

Yeah better not touch ASx, as kind of hard to hunt the units, but i remember back then in 2000 something year, i have problem on cash flow, force to withdraw some out of it .... having said that one should not touch ASx, the ideal would be find the money from credit card cash withdrawal, pinjam from kawan, saudara mara, ...... and that is the only 1 withdrawal from ASx, I have done so far......

For rule of thumb, 6 months emergency funds based may be kind of too much................ rule of thumb need the money works hard for us smile.gif
still remember, during my first 5 years of working, i put in 60% of my monthly income into hired purchased.., every month has to tighten up belt ..... vmad.gif
*
If u treasure ASx, proceed to withdraw as the last resort unless u r on retirement

Having a lung sum of money but tried AS1M till date always get not more than 5 digits , most also managed get rm2000 once after the dividend pay out.

I've been recommended by bank officer to go for ASG-Kesihatan as the NAK price acording to him is quite low now (0.9840 today) and record low for past 5 years 0.9675 according to fund fact sheet.

Was also offered a 'promo' of sales charge 3.5% instead of usual 5% .

What is your take on this? sounds like a right time to enter?

appreciate on all comments!

I wud advised u skip all 3 ASGs plus ASN3 as their Fund Mgr is not up to the mark to deliver competitive returns
