hi, plan to get a used car. tempted to get suprima s year 2017. quick check at mudah less than rm30k.

reading quite a bit on preve issues. did suprima have same issue? or proton already improve their qc for suprima.
my main concern:
1. cvt
2. och
3. aircon relay (fusebox design fail)

any thought?

Mostly same shit, slightly different packaging. Suprima has a different fuse box and the relay is easily replaceable

Hi there, I'm in between getting a used Suprima S (30k, 2015) or new Proton Saga 2019 Premium AT.

New Saga met my expectation (felt spacious & comfortable than Bezza, handling review is good and not using CVT gearbox anymore)

But I'm surveying 2nd car too which I found Suprima S have what do I expected too (powerful engine, spacious, feature like keyless, touch screen, etc) but worried about spare part, maintenance and fc.

So as u guys owner of the Suprima S, what is your advice for me? Planned to grab car before end of the year.

The maintenance cost will kill* you, unless your maintenance budget is much higher than it would be for a Saga or Bezza

As you are planning to do Grab, stay away from the Suprima S. The suspension parts do NOT last, and this will only accelerate the wear and tear of everything

*Partly because a lot of parts do not last like the Oil Cooler Hose (burst issue), radiator fan motor and relays, plastic parts, etc, and mostly thanks to the turbo which makes it necessary to either stick to a good engine oil (i.e. relatively expensive), unless you would like to deal with oil sludge issues that will lead to premature failure of the turbo, which itself costs 4 figures

Exactly. This car requires a lot of money to be kept in a good condition, and really will or should only be kept by real enthusiasts of the car, which are not many..

70k mileage, 6 years. OCH changed at recall during 30k. No major issues though my headunit cept the screen are mostly dead (bluetooth, reverse sensor)
I dont have statistic and I dont think ppl that have no issue post that often, so occasionally you will hear of things breakdown (and it will sounds like a lot vs the silent owner).

Anyway, theres a guy at the exora thread say he dont even know about OCH and drove for 7 years and it just breaks ( I dont remember him stating any mileage, assume its >100k or something). I read that as a good thing but could be an issue to others.

Hi all, I am eyeing on an used 2013 Suprima s, the head unit seems a little malfunctioned, is there anything that I need to be cautious if I want to change to a aftermarket head unit?
Between, the OCH need to change every 30k km?

Any place that I can read about the problem of Suprima S?
Thanks a lot

I own a Preve non turbo which is CVT2.

May i know most Suprima and Preve CFE experience cvt failure at how many km mileage?

What kind of failure exactly? Thanks

Thanks!
My Suprima S should be here next week, hopefully.
Thinking to change the Engine Lubricant (castrol magnatec), cvt oil and the filter(ori), coolant, brake fluid Nd power steering fluid, OCH, air filter, timing belt. Anything else I should also look at?
Anything I can do to prolong the Turbo? Servicing or anythg?
I have follow the fb group and little worry about the longetivity of the cvt gearbox, some cvt of suprima seems kong already.

my 4.5 yrs old Suprima S has had engine oils ranging from Syntium 3000 and Syntium 800 depending and mileage of 50+k kms, CVT fine, OCH fine basically replace on time with the correct oils is fine. Alot of OCH burst cases is due to didnt change on time, used additives which clogged up the cooler raising the pressure or using 3rd party hoses or silicon hoses.

CVT gear oil must be the right spec, not any CVT oil to ensure longevity and do not creep on traffic lights. Do not hard launch from stationary always.

Turbo doesnt need servicing if the right engine oil has always been used, it wont clog but can inspect the intake vanes for traces of oil

check the a/c belt condition also if high mileage or car above 5 yrs

Best in terms of what? But the easy choice is usually Michelin Pilot Sport 4, 215/45R17

Prolong life of turbo, use good fully synthetic engine oil as it lubricates the Turbo's bearing system and takes heat away from it. Lower quality engine oil can result in oil coking when they are exposed to higher temperatures like in a Turbo. This is usually the reason for turbo failure since the oil can no longer flow properly, or at all

CVT gearbox, unfortunately even at stock spec, it's quite close to the 220nm limit of the gearbox. It should last as long as the driver's foot does not work like an ON-OFF switch, i.e. either a hard press or nothing. Be gentle when moving off from a standstill, halve the recommended service interval from Proton, and if budget permits, get better CVT oil like Rock Oil CVTF and a better CVTF cooler

For the parking sensors, I read that some Android head units are able to work with the parking sensors which communicate via CAN, which means they have a CAN controller/reader built-in. Perhaps the accessory shop or group can provide more info

Hi thanks, such a relief. I will take good care of the cvt and might change the cvt oil every 45k km, the recommended interval should be around 60k km? If the CVT and engine not causing me any problem provided I take good care of them then I am ok with the common problem of ss. Such as fan relay, och need faster change than 40k km, noisy, plasticky interior ( although i dont think it is too bad, i like the interior actually).
Drove it twice and I really love the feeling and drive train of it.
Between, do you know if there is any reliable tires that is good in term of grip, not necessarily need to be handling excellently, safety and life span are still my main concern when come to tires.

Thanks, the AC belt is the fead belt? I intended to change that too shrn I receive the car.
Hopefully the car can take care of me if I take care of him nicely. seriously love the car. Been a father now and safety is my main concern, the 5 star Ncap and the drive train really are super b. Can't understand why typical Malaysian complaining it head to toe just because it is a Proton.

Reliable tyres? Not sure. I have only used Achilles 2233, which are stock from factory for earlier batches. Not good experience cause it was already hardened. The replacement Continental CSC3 were better but still dreadful cause most of them were out of balance. Finally i chose PS4 and settled it with ever since, on second set now

Maybe Primacy 4 will fit your needs. If not look at some of the higher end Continental tyres. Don't bother too much with lifespan unless you drive long distances frequently. My PS4 lasted 50k km with some life left in them, and they felt a bit hard already. They were in the 3rd/4th year since manufacturing date. Still managed to sell two pieces for 50 MYR

Yes, AC is FEAD. Be sure to buy original Proton, it's really cheap

You might be one of the many who will suffer from quality issues later. The good news is it's easy to predict what and when something needs to be replaced. The bad news is a lot of stuff do not last that long. They may be cheap but the costs add up quickly, and this is what many owners complain about

Good to see some new owner. On the cvt Kong... Its sporadically reported and the funny thing is its not even from ppl with the mbox mod. Been driving it exceeding the spec for a while now and even dréx the one that coded it just uploaded a video of his silver preve going berserk with paddleshift. Don't worry about it, whether you baby it or not.. But don't full press from toll is a good advice though.
