thy can remotely deactivate ur phone...if thy want...

As long as they don't de-activate before S8 is out, I am good with that. I just want to use my N7 until S8 is out.

The SME announcement doesn't mention the dateline to return/exchange or refund. Is there a date line??

Those often flying and plan not intend to return, be think twice.

All Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones to be banned on U.S. airline flights
*
Once US FAA issues a ban on N7, most other airlines around the world will also issue a ban as FAA directive is normally used as a yardstick by other airlines around the world.

I just bought a S7 Edge at RM2799 from Samsung store. I am going to use my S7 Edge when I am traveling. When not traveling, I will use my N7.

I will keep the N7 until the date line to return it for refund. So far, no one can confirm the date line. My N7 refund will cover the S7 Edge I bought. So, I don't lose any $$ and at the same time, I have N7 and S7 Edge to use same time.

And yes I know you can buy the S7 Edge cheaper than RM 2799 from Lazada, etc but I can't wait as I am traveling to US tomorrow.

The Samsung Pavillion stall I purchased say they don't have a date and can't confirm if 31 Dec 2016 is the date line.

I am pretty sure MAS and Air Asia will issue a ban on N7 next week since other regional airlines have already imposed the ban.

Not spread bad news, bro.

I am a Note 7 user and almost decided to keep it but as a frequent traveler I can't ...so asking for opinions here
*
You can still keep it for another 2.5 mths minimum. The dead line to refund is Dec 31.

Go buy a S7 Edge today, use it when travelling. The S7 Edge from Samsung stores is RM 2799.

When you get a refund from Samsung on Dec 31, the refund amount is about RM2851.

So, you won't lose and at the same time, get to use your N7 and S7 Edge (for travelling).

Samsung is pushing an update to Note 7 in Europe to limit the battery charge to 60% on Oct 31. Looks like they will probably implement this in other regions. If they do this in Malaysia, looks like I will have to return my Note 7.

alternatively you can properly disable updates from being pushed into your phone.
*
Don't think it is possible. When they pushed the 1st update during the 1st recall, auto updates was disabled and yet they managed to push it. If it happens that you see the update being pushed, you can pause it but then pause is just temporarily.

RETURNING N7 is no longer a choice. Banned on all airlines, no further support. Return for refund/exchange it mate.
*
It is still a choice. I have a S7e for travel. I only want to keep N7 until S8 comes out. So, I don't need updates or support beyond March 2017, assuming that is when S8 will be released.

Fixed that for you.

there is no such thing as no options. Keeping it is an option. Keeping it with proper knowledge on how to keep, store and use it is a better option than the previous.

Totally agree.

For those who think of not returning your devices, check out the video below to see if it will change your mind.

Nope, haven't changed my mind. Still using my N7.

Is the 60% update being pushed to N7 as we speak?

I disabled the software update per ebackbone instructions and so far no software updates being pushed to my phone.

Hopefully it is working because I am not sure if the update has been pushed to the N7.
