Hi guys,

Need your help and advice.

Current Phone: Motorola Moto G (2nd generation). Snapdragon 400, 1Gb RAM, 8GB internal storage + 32Gb SD card formatted as internal storage using "Adoptable Storage" method.

Usage: The usual Google productivity apps (gmail, docs, calendar, keep), watching youtubes, and Gmaps for navigation (Ubering on the weekend). And "light" games like 2048, Dots,

Issue: App update/install taking too much time, switching between apps also taking too long, Gmaps lambat nak find current location.

Planning to buy Redmi Note 3 (version: 3GB RAM + 32Gb storage) from DirectD

A) This is Kenzo... am I right?
B) How's the GPS performance of this phone?
C) This phone should be more than enough for my typical usage?
D) Easy to buy hard case and glass screen protector?

Dear Sifu-sifu dan guru-guru,

A) Kindly accept me into the club. Just bought Redmi Note 3. Haven't transfer in my SIM card yet.

B) Do I update my phone or just use the existing ROM? I mean, is there any critical bug or issues with the new version.

Hi GameSky,

Do you mean this app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.devcheck

Sorry for asking so many basic questions... Too many years living with stock Android in Moto.

UPDATE: Yes, after checking with DevCheck... confirm mine is Kate version.

2 weeks ago just bought RN3 same version like U, received OTA updates to 8.0.5.0 with 748MB size.. now received OTA to 8.1.1.0 with even bigger file 1.4GB size.. very curious, how come yours one skip 8.0.5.0 & straight away to 8.1.1.0 just  748MB size only..

I dunno boss confused.gif

But it sure took a long time to download. I start at 5pm and completed around 8pm. After reboot it was stuck at the MI logo for 25 minutes (feel like having heart attack).

Lag or app got killed is annoying. Example if you surf net while listening to music. And your music app got killed.

I totally agree with you on this matter. Hence I feel better to invest in the 3GB RAM variant.

Which do you think is the best value for money smartphone of 2016?

Runner Up: Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 (28%)

Arguably the phone that helped ensure Xiaomi’s position as a value for money brand remains solid as ever. The Redmi Note 3’s hardware is unrivaled at its price point: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chip with 3GB of RAM for RM849? Fantastic for the price-conscious Malaysian consumer.

It helps too that the package as a whole was solid: everything from the display, camera, and battery life is what you’d come to expect from Xiaomi.

After trying cm13 and cm14, I prefer stock miui8 with root access.

Well it depends on individual tho. What u like and what u don't.
*
So far I have no problem with stock MIUI8... but out of curiosity, what advantages with root access?
