Do I need to unlock the bootloader?

No so sure.. for RN3 Pro, Kenzo also have 3/32GB..Diff only kate c/w MM & Kenzo LL..

Yeah yeah I have done that but still. When i ON wifi it will go 4G when i off WIFI it will go on 2g :S

Ya, I used this way to unlock.

But when flashed back to Global Stable ROM, the BL become locked.

Seem like both are same.

I am following the guide->Flashing Vendor/Fake/Bloatware ROM to Official Global ROM

At first, the guide shows me to download the latest ROM from the link:

Then, when I clicked on it, it gives me a list of ROM, but I couldn't find the Global ROM for MTK Redmi Note 3.

Those who did before, may I know which version to choose from?

My intention is to get rid of bloatware from Vendor's ROM.

I'm a new owner of RN3 Snapdragon (2GB RAM, 16GB ROM). My version is
Android: 6.0.1 MMB29M
Security patch level: 2016-11-01
MIUI version: MIUI Global 8.1 | Stable 8.1.1.0(MHOMIDI)

I hate advertisement so I rooted my old mi4i (Malaysia set) to install Adaway.

Read the first page about flashing etc but I still have questions
1) I don't have to unlock bootloader on mi4i to root, is it compulsory to unlock bootloader before I can root RN3?
2) The tutorial was released for MIUI 7.xxx, is it still applicable for my version?

Also has questions about mi4i, appreciate it of you guys can guide me as well.
After i rooted mi4i, my version remained MIUI 6.6.5.0(LXIMICF) Stable and never update OTA. I checked that the latest available update is MIUI V8.1.5.0 LXIMIDI | Stable | 970M
3) Is it the right way to update manually? Will my rooted miui bricked if I follow step 3a to 3d?

3a) download the zip file

3c) run Updater and 'choose update package'

Anyone using YES DATA in RN3 2nd simcard slot?
There is weird problem here:
My fren YES DATA simcard cannot detect the network, showing "no services" in his RN3 (v7.5.3.0).

But the YES DATA Simcard can detected 4G and online work well in my Mi MAX on 2nd simcard slot.

Anyone know what's the problem here?

yeah, just now tried switch to simcar Slot 1, it's work...showing VOLTE 
not really know what is VOLTE....

hmm, but I only plan to use DATA with it, can I turn off this feature on RN3 and will it save battery life?
I do not see any option to turn ON/OFF the VOLTE on RN3, but Mi Max can see the option.

Guys, RMN3P supports LTE-A yeah? I am currently locked to 4G only not 4G+, how can I go about that? Speed hovers around 20Mbps only
