Hi there,

I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro 13" model and it's starting to become very very slow.

I've been advised to upgrade my SSD and maybe my RAM to at least 8GB from the current 4GB.

My question is if you guys have a place you can recommend that can do this well and for reasonable price? In Klang Valley area.

Thanks!

I'm planning to upgrade my old MBP to SSD and ram as well.

So confirm after these 2 upgrades, Sierra will work fine and smooth on it ?

In general it should.
But that still depends what spec is the MacBook Pro & what kind of task you perform on it. Other hardwares (CPU, GPU, bus speed, etc) might be still bottlenecking the performance.

I would say do the SSD first and the RAM later if you mind spending too much.

SSD on 4GB of memory might even give you the speed boost you already need and the 8GB might be negligible.

I've done a couple of upgrades on the old plastic macbooks (SATA2) and the owners were quite happy with it even they have limited amount of memory available.

U can format via disk utility later.

Make boot USB disk with the Mac OS ISO.
Boot from USB
Then can format your SSD.

well, upgrading the internal SSD for rmbp is not worth it.

I m using Samsung 850 Evo SSD as an external drive via USB 3.0.

The average read/write speed is about 450-500mb/s, so it's good for me. smile.gif

May I ask which model Transcend SSD are you using? I am thinking of upgrading to a SSD for my old Macbook Pro 2008 version.
