Using Win 10 home 64 bits.

Using Chrome as my default web browser.

Strange thing is when I run CCleaner, it asks me whether I want to close MS IE which I am not using. Checked the autostartup programs list, IE is not in there.

How can I disable IE from auto running itself every time I startup my PC?

Don't like it when MS is sneaking behind doing things we do not know.

IE is used for other MS programs like Outlook etc? Not using Outlook, Cotana either.

Help?

Thanks.

Very good. Thanks!

As I have suspected. As I am not that IT literate, I will stay in the do nothing camp on this IE problem. vmad.gif

it's not exactly a problem. ie is just part of operating system, even in w10, eg. edge still use the same cache location as ie.

Saw some youtube videos on Win 10 auto update thing and allowing data to be sent back to MS for them to improve things. Really? Maybe data for them to build for their marketing bridge as less money now in OS.

With Malware anti-beacon, I have disabled most of their telemetry loops. I still want my privacy etc etc. Don't mind giving the data I want to give but not behind my back without me knowing. Ha.

Cheerio.

telemetry is everywhere for quite some times, eg. in web browsers, phones, etc. the only difference is that ms admitted it, and for some reasons they get all the blames for being honest (sort of) hehe

i turn this telemetry thing off as much as i can too. my favorite alternative is still Linux if i wanna get rid of it completely.

I see.

Planning to set up linux on my old PC.

I guess softwares like spreadsheet, word, powerpoint, email, etc for linux are free and easily available?

Is Linux so popular now that giant softwares can also run on Linux like Photoshop, etc?

Thanks.

libreoffice is preinstalled with some distros. photoshop alternative in linux is called gimp. you can also check out wine which let you run some software for windows.

basically for my usage i just need the usual: firefox for web browsing, thunderbird for emails, transmission for torrents, keepassx for password storage, filezilla for ftp sessions, vlc for movies, to name a few.

you can always test a live usb version of linux distro (created with tools like the ones at pendrivelinux.com) to see if you like it or not.
