Dear all, I wasn't sure where to ask, and apparently my Google-fu isn't so awesome because I can hardly find any info.

Is there any reputable person or company that can overclock a custom rig for me in Selangor?
Preferably with warranty

Long story:

I want to get a new mid-range gaming PC. It SEEMS to me that i5-6600k & GTX1070 with moderate overclocking is great value for money. Unfortunately, I have zero experience with overclocking.

So far, I have only found these guys:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
from Google.
(I 100% have no affiliation with these guys. I have also done 0% due diligence checking up on them. If you do have any experience with them, pls share. Thanks.)

As mentioned, not sure if they are 'reputable' and they also don't have a full range of parts.

I'm thinking of heading down to Low Yat (I moved out of KL years ago, and even thinking of braving the jam tires me out) but again, I also don't know if there are any reputable traders there that will OC for me.

So anyways, between having to 'catch up' on technology & parts and trying to figure out all the new terminology is tiring me out. Just hoping for a quick answer now, like "go to this guy! he'll answer all your questions and build you a nice working rig (with 2 years warranty) for a reasonable fee!"

I did think about just buying from Dell, it should give me no headaches, but maybe a heartache because I have to pay so much for less hardware.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

3. Full Years Warranty Covered (from the link I show earlier. I don't really understand what they mean either)

Also, I think Dell's Alienware has a little OC, and covered by their warranty.
edit: (from dell malaysia) Intel® Core™ i7-6700K Processor (4-Cores, 8MB Cache, Turbo Boost 2.0, Overclocked up to 4.2GHz)

Buy a factory overclocked version of the GPU. A factory overclock is good choice if you do not want to mess with/or do it your self.

They have Factory overclocked version of GPUs? Its one the most complex parts I still have trouble understanding. Got so very many versions of the same GTX 1070. Any brand you recommend?

You cant kill all birds with 1 stone...

1) idealtech is reputable.. go find their facebook page and website.. obviously research not enough to be googles tou tai... sweat.gif

2) even in lowyat, no shop is going to hold full range of parts and wait dust to collect for customer to come buy... they only get parts that are in demand from the market

3) with no experience in overclocking... why not get a high performance non overclocking rig? whats your goal to getting an overclocked rig? video rendering?

within 3 years, intel will just replace another cpu for u for only once. (in case u damage/spoil ur cpu)

and, by default..
dell system are not entitle warranty claim from oc damage..

In answer to #3, to save a few hundred bucks worth of performance? Or maybe I'm just over-hoping...

And oh yeah, I guess I forgot to mention the purpose, just a general gaming/work rig that hopefully will last me another 5 years. (or am I being too hopeful again?) Mostly gaming, some huge picture files (few hundred megs) editing, some 3D autocad files.

not even if Dell does the OC themselves?
Intel® Core™ i7-6700K Processor (4-Cores, 8MB Cache, Turbo Boost 2.0, Overclocked up to 4.2GHz) <<< from Dell Malaysia.

thats is not OC like what u thought..it's different..it's like driving a car with normal turbo...if u want better performance, u have to tweak the turbo...

so i get u, wanna overclock to gain performance from acceptable i5k budget. not competition. ok that good.

given the fact that things will heat up u need to spend some cooling accessory as well. fan or water is up to ur noise acceptance.

what specs in ur mind now and target speed?

Thanks to all you guys for your kind replies.

I feel like a n00b though. I build my own PC maybe 8 years ago, and now everything has changed so much I think that experience is now absolutely useless.

Anyways, yeah, just hoping to stretch out more bang for buck. Not poor, but it is a significant investment that I hope will bring me some joy after work. Looking at spending maybe 5k-6k for a decent rig that can last.

From what I've been reading, 4.4 - 4.5 GHz seems common to OC on the 6600k. Just looking for performance boost, not to win any competitions.
Haven't gotten that deep into GPUs yet. OC on GPU is just for clock speed also?

Right now looking at something like this:

How risky is OC-ing by myself? If its very low risk of permanently destroying any hardware, I might give it a go. There's supposed to be an auto-shutdown on the CPU right? How about the GPU?

Otherwise, sounds like IdealTech is the only guys who can do it for me. So that's still an option.

That's a lot. I'm guessing you also successfully OC-ed many many machines?

I cant afford to break the GPU. tongue.gif Glad to know its not so easy to break the CPU.

And how did you break the fans from OC-ing...? You OC the fan also?! Or power supply problem?

dude, just start to learn it.. overclocking is fun.. beside all that experience and knowledge that you will gain by doing it will be priceless..

why would you pay for extra services or devices for benefit of the OC?...
you want to save money at the first place.. ;-)

Haha, let me check first how many GPUs I need to burn in order to learn. tongue.gif

if 212x not enough, what do you suggest?
