Yes, I obtained 5% weekend dining cashback by Maybank 2 Card American Express, by inserting the card into the credit card terminal at McDonald's - AEON Taman Maluri, Cheras. Other McDonald's should use same MCC 5814 - Fast Food Restaurants, but it is better that you call Maybank Customer Service after swiping the credit card. smile.gif

For now, the credit card terminal does not request the PIN from me, and I do not need to sign the receipt. Maybe, due to the nature of its fast-food business, Maybank (as the acquirer bank which supplies the credit card terminals to McDonalds) waives the requirement for the cardholders to key-in the PIN , or sign the receipt. I am just guessing.

Yes. It's dining. I just used again today in McD's using AmEx, how I wish AmEx can be tapped just like my MACH card. I will still need to slot in for AmEx.

Well, we do have American Express ExpressPay. Maybe due to cost, Maybank does not implement this feature, and choose to focus on Visa Paywave. As of now, Maybank credit card terminals do not support even MasterCard Contactless.

for business 2% charges actually cheaper compared to the cost of cash. Cash has to be managed: it must be stored, guarded, It could be difficult to transport and insecure. the cost of cash is actually higher than the cc 2% charges.

I fully agree with you. But, some stingy bosses still instruct their employees to encourage the customers to pay with cash, rather than with credit cards. The employees have no choice, but to go to cash deposit machine to deposit the proceeds of the day every night. What if the money is robbed by snatch thief? For sure, these stingy bosses will hold the helpless employees accountable for the losses.

Based on the rules set by Visa and MasterCard, it is wrongful to pass down the credit card interchange fee from the merchant to customers.

This is just my unverified speculation.

Maybank CS advised us not to call them prior to going to foreign country, probably because Maybank do not want us to call the toll-free telephone number for this reason (deemed petty and insignificant by Maybank), and Maybank can deploy lesser CS officers to handle the calls, incurring lower cost.

In the event that Maybank CS is unable to check with us when we use the cards in foreign country, our Maybank credit cards may be blocked, and thus we are inconvenienced and saddled with hefty roaming charges. In short, it is best to call Maybank CS prior to going to foreign country.

I just follow the wise advice given by lilsunflower. notworthy.gif

We customers need to protect ourselves, otherwise the mistakes / misrepresentations made by customer service officers become our problems.

Can, use it many times already. The best part is no minimum amount. This morning just charged rm6.25 to my amex.

McDonalds also has Maybank credit card terminal at the counter selling Sundae Cone and Oreo Mcflurry. Thus, we should not be feel embarrassed to swipe RM 1.00 to our Maybank 2 Card American Express credit card, just to pay for one Sundae Cone. brows.gif

McDonalds is the cheapest dining place for us to swipe our Maybank 2 Card American Express credit card, which can normally be used in only high-end (read as expensive) dining outlets. For that, we should be thankful that the management and staff of McDonalds support cashless transactions, by credit card.

They are much better than KFC in this aspect. Although the CIMB credit card terminal at one certain KFC outlet appeared to be working fine, the KFC staff there claimed that the terminal is faulty. bangwall.gif

“Maybank 2 Card RM9 Million Cashback” Campaign

2-Mar-2017 24-Jan-2017 M2C RM9Million - JUL 2016 RMXX.XX

I am curious about the transaction date and posting date of this cashback. It seems that Maybank credited the cashback on 24 January 2017, and let it float for more than 1 month, before posting it to our credit card transaction history on 2 March 2017, right? confused.gif

Based on The Payment Card Reform Framework stipulated by Bank Negara Malaysia, regardless of whether credit card is Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card, merchant should pay same 1.1 % interchange fee to card issuer bank (bank that issues the credit cards to customers).

It seems that the card issuer bank illegally imposes much higher interchange fee for American Express credit cards, to the merchants, thus the merchants stop accepting American Express credit cards, to keep operating cost down.

Anyone, any thought on this matter? hmm.gif

Yeehah. rclxm9.gif

We do not have to worry about MCC, category of spending, mode of payment (swiping the card at terminal, or online payment), and minimum spending limit per month (such as RM 500 for UOB Yolo Card; RM 2000 for Hong Leong Wise Card), and so on. smile.gif

As long as the merchant accepts Amex and we can use the Amex on weekends and spend at least RM 20 per month, we can easily gain 5 % cashback. Getting Treatspoints or no is not a big issue, since 5 % cashback is more valuable than 5x Treatspoints (= 1.25% cashback).

Our prayers on reinstating 5% cashback for Maybank 2 Card American Express Credit Card are finally answered. thumbup.gif
