Those who know how to root will know how to bypass Maybank's protection (hint: Xposed module). Both PBB and CIMB apps already block rooted, not hard to bypass for the knowledgeable. For jailbreak, sorry not an Apple user =)

If you're getting charged finance charge, whether 8.88 or 15 or 100% doesn't matter, you need to cut the card right now. Paying that interest is never worth it.

Haven't tried, but I think you have to tap it like TnG, not put it in to the magnetic strip reader.

The whole point of contactless is to tap. I don't use Petronas (and as mentioned in my post haven't tried before) but why so surprised that I mention tap? The reason we're used to cucuk-ing the card is because that's the easiest robust way to read the magnetic strip. With pin and pay you're not using the magnetic strip anymore....

and FYI, M2C AMEX does not allow you to tap, it do not hv AMEX contactless, the feature like VISA payWave/MASTERCARD PayPass...

For the Tap (contactless), so far I only saw BHP outdoor pump can accept MasterCard Paypass, but can't be used with Maybank cards as Maybank doesn't support Paypass. Also, Maybank Amex doesn't has contactless feature.

Thanks, I confused the pin-and-pay with contactless then. And no I have not tapped my AMEX, in fact the Amex has not been used in months (I think similar to almost everyone here).

Uh... what petrol stations DON'T accept Amex? Maybe true when this card was first being promoted, but nowadays I don't think any of Petron, Shell, Petronas DON'T accept Amex.

Just to check, LHDN payments are not under the exclusions for 5% cashback (I know TP is less), so paying LHDN on Saturdays will get cashback right? More than covers the 0.8% charge, summore got promo for chance to win cash.

Just the other day, you mention all petrol station accept Amex but how come Petronas in Bukit Merah Ipoh doesn't accept Amex.

T&C states exclusions for various types of transactions (obvious things like interest payments etc.). These are, as far as I know, identical to previously, so I'm asking anyone who has used this card before in previous years for LHDN payment whether they qualified for cashback.

And back when this card was popular, in these LYN threads never got any report of petrol stations not accepting AMEX.
