This is just my unverified speculation.

Maybank CS advised us not to call them prior to going to foreign country, probably because Maybank do not want us to call the toll-free telephone number for this reason (deemed petty and insignificant by Maybank), and Maybank can deploy lesser CS officers to handle the calls, incurring lower cost.


In the event that Maybank CS is unable to check with us when we use the cards in foreign country, our Maybank credit cards may be blocked, and thus we are inconvenienced and saddled with hefty roaming charges. In short, it is best to call Maybank CS prior to going to foreign country.


I just follow the wise advice given by lilsunflower.

I don't think your first reason is valid. It's applicable to all levels of cards and use different no. Not using the general line, either Plat/VS or Premier lines. How much can they save?

Not an issue to call but they will repeat the same thing, not to call them again. Anyway, the next time I go again, I will ask call and ask them the reason.

Got my late Angpao from MBB on the RM9 million CB campaign for August 2016

Hi... I apply for maybank credit card online, but got rejected.. so sad since my credit and Ctos is clean and I way above minimum salary requirements.. is it true that we need to wait for 6 months before re apply the card again?

I think you can try call CS for appeal or check the reason of reject.. if you are in KL can go Maybankard Centre at KLCC, Gardens and 1U, they have this "get your cards within 60 minutes" or something like that.. easiest way to find out i think..

I had applied ikhwan gold card through M2U and rejected by system automatically.

Then I applied through email and got approved within 5 days.

Maybank is infamous for this part. Slow and steady.

Today I just found out that using Genting Highlands online booking is considered as dining and is eligible for weekend 5% dining cashback!

so that you wont terminate the card just yet 😛
